Is it fast?

Do you ever get this question? Usually it's after someone says Hey nice bike, or wow that looks great, etc., then comes the dreaded "is it fast?"
Well I know the answer they're looking for is "yes" but I still roll my eyes and think of the long discertation I could be telling them.
It's relative obviously, any sportbike can/will be fast..but what do you want to compare it to.. that persons car? another sport bike model? And usually they're the same person who'll say , Hey man pop a wheelie when you leave.
No sorry -and no disrespect to those who like to do that sort of thing in the open... but A> I've never pulled wheelies nor do I intend to, and B> I doubt a parking lot full of cars is the place for that either.
Can you tell I don't appreciate people who act ignorant?

ask my wife what kind of bike it was

she said "a Buell"

he said "those things are pretty fast.... IN a straight Line"

I don't have a Buell nor have I ever riden one, but I want a new-ish (08-09) XB12S (maybe a built 9).

My brother can not understand my desire for a bike with a 51 year old block for an engine. I tried to show him the newish reviews (last 6 years or so) that show how great of a street bike they are. But his view (ex-WERA Racer) sees how they are not RACE bikes like the other Sportbikes on the market.

I dont want a RACE bike, I want a Street bike! I want a Buell!

I think this is a silly question, it really shows what the person asking knowss about bikes.

I ride with a 08 CBR 1000RR and a 07 GSXR 750. In a stright line they whoop my but every time. Off the line and up in the mountians is my game. Plus I get tons of people asking about the bike, everyone knows there bikes so they just get left out.

But I always answer that Buells are the fastest bikes on the planet! If they believe it then the deserve to be lied too.

I've actually had one guy tell me there was no way I could fit a 1200 motor in such a small bike, it would be way to powerfull. He was pretty smart!

People ask me this all the time! I always tell them that the only place I could get beat by a rice rocket is at the drag strip. It's not entirely true, but it's close enough.

I always get the "What kind of bike is that" question, never been asked if it was fast.
I also get asked if it's custom. People aren't very used to seeing a sportbike with that big bad Harley sound.

I get it all the time, I don't pop wheelies ever, but have been on rides with guys that pop them and they spook the crap out of me to be honest.

The biggest kick I got out of these kinds of question is , one time, I was at a country store getting a redbull and some pizza slices. Standing there in my full leathers. Two guys came in , back to back just a minute apart , both of them exclaimed , ...and I quote, "DANGHOWFASTDOESTHATTHINGGOMANG !?!"

Hello my fellow Buellers. I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I don't go hardly anywhere w/o somebody asking" dude what kind of bike is that?". Most of them are riders and they also say "what happened to your plastics?" , I tell them I was splitting lanes and got sandwiched, it was horrorable! then I lost it start laughing.

Ill just usually tell anyone that asks... It's fast enough for what I need to do. It'll hang with a 600 pretty well until about 100 mph.

when someone asks me this question I just say to 100 ya cant beat me and that is plenty fast for me
