I would really like to take the class but I am in ways glad I didnt HAVE too yet on the other hand I know people who I wish HAD too

I have been riding since I was 12 years old and since I am in the army they require you to take the class to get your bike registered on post so I did about 2 years ago and I learned a few things and think it made me a better rider. I recommend to everyone to take the class weather you feel you need to or not.

besides it makes your insurance cheaper.

yes I used their bike for a good portion of the class and then convinced them to let me use mine so I could get a feel for the bike. Ive been riding for 16years and I learned a few simple things that I think overall make me a better rider. some of the smallest things have made a large improvement in my cornering and uturns. this class is mandatory for US Navy personal and was free so Im not complaining, now I just have to wait for my passport to come in so I can go get the endorsement on my license before I can really ride :(

in jersey at out MSF riding course, they had a selection of different bikes, with cc ratings of no more than 600 i believe. it was a good course and many people dropped there bikes in certain scenarios. of course though i hopped on the ninja knowing it was prolly the easiest to learn on considering i rode dirtbikes for many years prior to owning a sportbike.

but for the idling question; i ALWAYS idle my bike for at least 5-7 minutes before i go for a ride. stop and go traffic with the bike idlieng is fine. if you plan on idleing for more than ten minutes just turn it off, save fuel. it only take a couple seconds to start er back up.

Common sence gentlemen, you will not be sitting on your bike while it idels for 4 to 6 hours. Bikes will need to be turned off so you can hear the instructor, go to the bathroom, lunch ect.

not true boss. on the first day we started the bike at 0800, shut them off when we went to lunch at 12 started them at 1230 and they did not get shut off till 1600 that day. but they were all liquid cooled bikes. Hyosung was the brand.. each scenario was about 4-6minutes with about 15-20 of talking in between

In NJ they have an advanced rider course were you use your own bike. have to take the basic first +1 year of riding. that might be a fun course.
