Ok. I know theres a billion threads on this already but this is wierd. I have an 02 x1 and it ran balls out until last night. Not good since its for sale. Heres symptoms. Starts, idles @1,000-1,100 rpm. Touch the throttle and (blup) it dies. You can speed rev it and creep it up to about 5,000 but it sounds wierd like its on one cylinder. After a few sec of that the check eng light pops on. If you let it idle again it will and the light goes out . Shut it off and starts back up. But cannot rev it. I dont have ecmspy or the aldl cable. If I unplug the tps will it run? Like on a car?

I would not unplug tps ,ecm reads the position to know how much fuel to inject when you turn throttle. I would refer to a manual for how to test before you just go and buy one.

Yea. I didnt pull the plug. Its starting and idling fine now. Revs freely too. Tried to drive it. Cutting up under load. Whats that all about?

Ok. I did unplug it. Eng light stays on as I expected. It still starts and revs. Any ideas on how to adjust using a voltmeter?

Is it common to just fail all of a sudden? And if I put on a new one, can the bike relearn?

Tps still needs to be reset it will not set itself. according to manual it should be reset every so often. I have an 07 firebolt that's what it said for that , but a tps is a tps and they need to be reset . You can always take to dealer ,but they will rape you with your close on . It cost me 95 dollars with my EBR ecm and they set it wrong and had to do myself with ecmspy and I told them it was the race ecm, never again ,.that mite not happen to you

Ok. Ill order the ecmspy on ebay then. Anyway to check exsisting one to see if its bad? Rather not put it on just to take back off....
