yes humidity matters. I live in Florida and without the by-pass your intake is gonna look like a raccoon has been pissing on your IAT sensor. No performance gain but it gives you a smoother idle and keeps the intake clean. I don't even bother with a catch-can, I just let it drain straight out of the bike. In the Florida summer its a constant drip of nasty water. Even 49cc scooter-riders do by-passes here in the Jungles of Florida.

215lbs is a lot of rider.. I am 145 and the stock Showa suspension works great from me.... I went with stock settings for my weight but ended up using the settings for a 160lb rider and the bike got a lot more agile

hi...........buellbradski............any Buell ECM can be handled by ECM spy...........and there is a need for fine tuning and a perfomance gain possible.............please feel free to check the ECMspy website............the program is highly sophisticated and Gunther Baumann is doing this as a non profit project for many years.......I have 5 ECMs and one is even a factory ECM..........which I dont use......it is for example easy to remap almost any standard XB ECM into a Race ECM with ECMspy............the EBR software is primitive comparted to the level of sophistication Gunther and his co-worker have now achieved..............he last gave a seminar at a workshop that a frined of mine orgnaises every year...............there he already had a beta Version that has an autotune feature that makes suggestions on how to adjust the ECM based on a log file scan.................there are several types of XB EMs and the software allows you to investigate the ECM indept..........depending on the type of ECM a release code for ECMspy is generated and this is bought by the user by donating a small sum to a german kids charity..............nobody makes money. This is an amacing peace of work and software!

OK..................we dont not ride in such conditions as described by Gloomshadow. I can not comment on that.

Huh! Sorry if I passed on bad info. I was under the impression the race ecm's were locked and couldn't be tuned other than being sent out. I knew ebr made a tunable version for about double the money. Good to know thank xbtiger[up]

no swet.........:).......by the way I very much enjoying posting here. You guys have a very nice way of communicating and the tone of the postings is very pleasant. Thx for that.

Our particular need for the XBM tuning is that many of my mates have bikes with ported heads/big bore or other engine mods. The stock ECM maps do not work well with these motors.....we are all learning every day new stuff.......in an ideal world there should be baseline maps that are posted on the net.......such like

All the maps below should have been optimised with the airbox setup that I have described above and no other mods on the engine or fuell pump.

1430 long stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1470 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1208 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1203 long stroke with stock heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1203 long stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1170 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold
1170 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/old manifold
998 short stroke with stock heads/stock muffler/new manifold
998 short stroke with stock heads/stock muffler/old manifold
998 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/old manifold
998 short stroke with ported heads/stock muffler/new manifold

The above maps could then be used as a baseline for fine tuning e.g. you additionally have a different exhaust and headers, cams, fuell pressure regulator. Its would be a lot of work to achieve this...........but I am hopeful that sure the Buell community will come to this point one day.

Because the engines are often so different it is not possible to post a map............unless you have the same setup............there is no point of me posting a map for a project with e.g. 1430cc/ported heads/bigger intake valves/long stroke/open airbox/450PSI fuell pressure regulator/custom made 51 mm headers/KTM RC8 titanium muffler/screaming eagle 585 cams. Thats the engine setup on my current roadbike.

Sorry for going a little of topic, but part of the fun with Buell bikes is the fiddeling...........

Great info guys! I'm on my phone right now so I can go in depth with all my responses.

Xbtiger, that setup is exactly what I was looking for.

What's the average cost on a setup like that?
