I have a 07 xb12ss that I got a few months ago. I haven't been able to ride it except for a quick run around the block due to some licensing issue. but my question is that it has a slip on Jardine( i think its just a slip on) and i'm not sure if the previous owner had it tuned or mod'd for that exhaust. would it hurt the bike to ride it with out messing with the ecm or due any other tuning. how do i tell if it is running lean or anything else that could affect it.
thanks for the help!

Obviously a tune to match your aftermarket exhaust will give you the best performance and safety for the life of your engine. That being said it seems many can get away with just a K&N filter or just a slip on exhaust without trouble. Our ECM's are learner ECM's so they can make up for some variances within reason. I'm sure your Jardine is just a slip-on as Jardine never made xb headers to match to the best of my knowledge. If you go to EBR's website they have an aftermarket ECM for your bike with a tune for that exhaust already loaded for around 300 bucks I believe. That would probably be the quickest and cheapest solution to solve your problem. To check for a lean condition you can check your plugs for color. If you do a google search or look on the last page of any automotive Haynes manual you can see all sorts of plug conditions and possible reasons for why they look that way. Obviously it will show a hot/lean condition and what a normal should look like for reference. I hope that helped. In my opinion you are safe to run the bike as is but may want to save up for an EBR race ECM to solve any and all concerns.
