Hi guys, new member! I gotta say this site rocks!!Does this work with the carbon fiber Jardine? Do I just drill the rivets out and install the fix?

I would wait until you need to repack it, Pulling it apart is kinda a PITA. But yea there should be no difference other than what the case is made of.

maybe this is a stupid question, but could you just pull the exhaust springs and take the pipe off, then put the reducer inside the flange that goes inside of the pipe? just curious as i just repacked mine

Yes, thats how it works but you have to run the set screw in from the outside of the baffle. I could not figure out how to secure it with out opening the can up. Otherwise the baffle could work its way to the other end of the pipe.

Not a bad option but you would never get it back out. I also dont know how well the JB would hold up with the heat and vibration.

Is this mod the same for s XB12, i was thinking you could just take weld the reducer to the end of the header pipe and then you wont have to pull your muffler apart, this would work the same, right?

Matt

When i say take weld, i mean tack weld, and when i say s XB12, i mean a 2009 XB12SS

If you Tack" weld the reducer to the end of your header pipe and slip your muffler back on i believer your doing the same deal right?

Will it help with the XB12, i read mainly this is for the XB9

PS ill be TIG'ing this on, ill run a shallow pool and wont need to grind, or wont even have to take the header off the bike

Ok did this yesterday, not sure if it had a great improvement in torque, since maybe the newer Jardines for the 2009 are a little smaller, there was no way mine was 2 5/8's ID like stated in the 1st thread, it was 52mm, thats just over 2" in my books, and when done i got down to 42mm at the cone end

I welded mine to the header, so didnt have to pull my pipe apart

One thing i did notice is it cleaned up a alggy area between 1000rpm and 1500rpm, was sort of a flat area, not i can short change to the top and load up with low revs, it also cleaned up 50% of the popping on back off

im getting awefully tempted to do this. I am really finding a lot of flat spots with the jardine. Not that its a huge loss in power, but i feel like it could have more. I think the most noticable is around 3000

Doing this will fix your flat spots, i raced my bike on the 1/8th last weekend and gained, 0.5 of a second, just with this mod

Need to get it tuned, im pressed to get it faster than 7.93 on the 1/8th

I was really interested in doing this mod and bought the reducer for it. I did some more reading on ECMSpy/MLV and will try some tuning first to see if it helps. I don't want to lose any sound from my Jardine.
