Jardine Torque Fix (Gatorbuell)

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

Anyone dyno test any of these "fixes" ? My jardine gained HP and Torque from the 3k rpm range and up (by the seat of the pants, and ease of front wheel pickup tests), i don't think id shove a restriction into my pipe unless there was more evidence than "it feels like it has more torque". NO offense intended of course.

Regarding CaboWabo9SX's post on anti-reversionary cones:

NRHS is local to me, and Dan seems to know his stuff. He details how these work, and I have one on my Jardine equipped Blast. It made a very slight difference before 3000, and no notable difference after that, although my bike has a stage 2 XB top end with SE cams, skewing my powerband upward and flowing more air, especially up high, playing to the Jardine's strengths.

According to Dan's findings this means that the Jardine header is slightly oversized for the ~500cc motor, so his logic seems sound in theory and application, at least in my case. Where my setup differs from all you XB guys is that my header is the same diameter from end to end (no collector area obviously), so reducing the flow with the in-muffler-mod might give me more torque but reduce top end. I would still be curious to try this on my spare exhaust.
Here's his article on testing them and his thoughts about their use:

Pack Jardine with something like http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/9080-Packing The reason people talk about "loss of power on Jardine," is because the OEM packing is like tissue paper, so the muffler is essentially hollow and losses all its back pressure. Filling it up with a sturdy core wrap and pillow packing allows the muffler to provide ample back pressure and maintain max HP and Torque.

The build/concept of the Jardine is no different than the Torque Hammer or the Drummer. Its a hollow tube filled with packing, and riveted at both ends. Except those mufflers come with better OEM packing. The advantage with the Jardine is that you can add the best packing on the market and still save money.

DB killer, AKA the quiet insert, will rob your Jardine of alot of power and torque. Best way to run a Jardine is wide open with no inner air box and a K&N air filter.

You can see after 4000RPM power and torque disappear with a DB killer.

I have a 03 9 with that jardine pipe. Love the sound just want to remap it. Does anyone have a map I could start with? I'm not super familiar with tuning and remapping yet

You can buy a new ECM from EBR or IDSpeed.com for $300

You can have AZMidget on here put the right program on your ECM for $100

You can go to Buelltooth.com and see if they have the map there. It's free but you will need to install it yourself. That takes a $50 Bluetooth dongle to communicate with the free ECMDroid app and your android device (tablet, phone whatever).
