Just put my new tires and brake on took it for alittle test ride Ti make sure I have no vibrations are anything before I head out to americade. About 45 miles away from my house check engine light came on and dash lights dimmed out, got off the highway pulled into a gas station where I sit now. Bike won't start just clicks sounds like a bad ground are battery. Checked everything and all connections seem good. I think I need a stator fuck!! Looks like no americade I'm on Hempstead tpke and Stewart ave if any one with more brains then me lives around here call me at 516 637 0644 any help is appreciated.

may not be the stator bud it might be the voltage regulator mine did the same thing

check number two fuse relays mine did same thing switch them around i was at the beach with my girl and mie did samething but luckley i bring my tools and testers in my trailer when i travel

charged battery and bike starts right up and runs perfect. its been off charge for a few hours now and is still fine. so its def not the number two fuse correct me if im wrong?

Could still be stator or regulator. Your battery will still be good but it my die again soon if it's either of the above.

if you don't have factory service manual, quick way to check stator and regulator is to unplug the regulator from the stator. there are 2 leads. the stator puts out AC current. get a tester, set ot AC curent in the 10-100 amps range, start bike, plug the 2 tester leads into stator leads, and at 1500 rpm or so, you should see 45-55 amps AC. if you do, stator is good and regulator is bad. if not, bad stator. this will help you narrow down what's going on and if a charging system issue.

does any one no the harley part number for the stator and regulator trying to see if they have them in stock and they told me i need part numbers,

Hey BentLife,

Found this info in "the other forum".. but some with some googling, the part numbers seem to return the items. I think there may be 2 different versions. Seems to be some kind difference in connectors. Maybe someone here or the harley dealer can provide some more info on which is right for your bike. The dealer over on Northern Blvd. in Queens has been able to get some Buell parts for me.

when i called the dealer they told me they dont have the book on buells anymore and i need to get them a part number in order to get the parts. i think im just going to go threw american sport bike alot cheaper but that also means i either have to pay over 100 dollars for next day shipping in order to make it to the americade are just not go..... this sucks but better it happened 60 miles from my house and not 260.

I hear you on that last part. ASB does sound the way to go if you want to make Americade. I'd have been looking to meet up with some of you guys there if I could get my bike running.

HD of NYC usually takes about 4-9 days to get the buell specific parts in. They guy at the parts counter hates me because he hates looking up the buell parts in the catalogs whenever I come in. The only ones the might have in stock might be any common parts that came off a sportster.

So I took my Tester and started testing the shit out of everything stator is good. But battery was charging then stopped charging out of no where. Pulled the connection from the regulator and bam it was burnt and bent up not making a solid connection. Cleaned them up alittle bit bent them down and now I'm holding a steady charge. Going to take it for a rip in alittle bit hopefully I don't get stranded again wish ne luck! If all goes good I'm leaving for americade at 12:30 tomorrow afternoon.
