I picked up a 05 XB12s this past weekend after many weeks of reading and learning about Buell. I have a hard time keeping anything stock, so 2 days after i purchased the bike its already been reduced down to bare bones. I am droping the rear subframe, tail light housing and gauge cluster housing off to be powder coated on monday, and trying to decide what i want to do with the plastics. im thinking about going line-x on them but am not sure i will like the texture. I have a bag full of goodies on order and hopefully i'll have the bike back on the streets by the end of sept. Some goodies take time to recieve :)

Anyway just wanted to say hi, and everyone always wants to see pics so here is a pic of how the bike looked when i picked it up, and a few pics of it how it sits now. All opinions are welcome.

That's an expensive piece of art, I like the placement. Wish I could bring mine in the house. (totally not sarcastic)

to the Forum and your new Addiction. Can't wait to see the finished product. The Line-X idea is something new, think it would work but I'd make it on the smoother side. It'd be a PITA to clean if it isn't. You got some Frame pucks on the way?

Any interest in trading the blue plastics for red?? If so, where are you located??

Welcome and I am with Dave on the color. Bike looks good, cant wait to see all the goodies.

If anything purchase a used set of plastics and mod those, but please no Line-Ex, I am pretty sure it will look horrible, yup it will[sad]

Welcome to the Forum. I am with dave on this one as well. That color scheme is nice, why paint it?

lot's of new riders here these last days...

welcome & most of all, have fun! ;)

Thanks everybody! I still havent made up my mind on the plastics. i dont like blue, and am afraid that if i had them done flat or satin black then they would print up or leave marks behind after washed. ive seen alot of flat black jobs where you could see the oil from fingerprints all over it.

50dro - im in MD. id trade you since im changing the color anyway, but only if youre local. im not messing with shipping.

Evil: I'm in Pittsburgh, but may be passing through MD in October...Not sure what your timing is? What condition are they in? Mine are near perfect condition...bike only has 3900 miles on it.

Let me know...If it works out, great, if not that's cool too...

Thanks!

50dro - sorry man. I just cant wait that long. I'll be doing something with them in the next week, 2 weeks tops. If for some crazy reason I end up buying a different set of plastics i'll save them for you. Im kinda up in the air with what im doing. Another thought is buying the "Kick Ash" box cover and screen, and maybe buying black fender and chin plastics, or coating the chin in line-x so i'll keep you updated on what happens. They're perfect btw. Bike only has 6k on it and they look like they have been taken care of good.

Welcome to the Board man! Lots of great info here.

Is that color scheme rare? I ride with another guy that has the same color set up.

I think the Line-X is pretty ****** awesome idea! Hope it works out for ya!

Is that the D&D pipe? Pretty loud huh?

Thaloc - yep its a D&D and its LOUD!! I drove the bike from the middle of PA to the middle of MD and after about 100 miles i had to put in ear plugs. it sounds great though which makes up for how loud it is.

I had no idea this blue was rare! I feel bad now for wanting to destroy it LOL

Evil: Thanks for the response! I certainly understand. If things change on your part, let me know and I'll do the same. What part of MD are you in BTW? I used to visit the Aberdeen area fairly often, but not so much any more. Looks like the first week of Oct. would be the soonest I'd be in MD...[sad]

Good luck with the build!

Im in Baltimore on the city/county line in Hamilton. I finally decided what im going to do and it requires me buying new plastics so i think im going to sell the blue plastics to fund that. Let me know if you are interested and i'll give you first crack at them.
