$500 project for my son...2001 Blast that needs some TLC. Picked it up yesterday and got a new set of Pirelli tires thrown in the deal. We've been texting back and forth, he's in California, on parts needed and such. This is his 5 month project, just in time when he graduates high school and moves to AZ over the summer. Complete engine tear down, along with the rest of the bike, replacing whatever needs it and so on.

thanks guys...we'll tackle it together when I can make it back to SoCal, but he's capable of most of the work by himself as he's helped tear down and rebuild my bike before. He's got the parts list going well so far and finding what he needs via ebay, Buellsterparts.com, newcastlehd.com and such.

my son gave me the go ahead to tear into her... so, I did. after cleaning much of the oil off around the primary cover and the lower side of the engine, found the inspection cover was cracked at the rear lower hole. removed the inspection cover and the entire brass bushing and plastic boss were gone, the screw head was toast. continued to remove the clutch cable, also toast and the primary cover to find the two lower inspection cover mounts were also cracked. not visible from the outside. the crank shaft is either stripped or broken judging from being able to move the drive/stator housing, clutch pack, primary chain, starter gear, shifter shaft and it's components all look good. stator seal on the inner L/H case half shows sign of leaking. wheel bearings and steering head seem ok, belt looks fine too. found some hacked up wiring behind the headlight bucket and the tail light plug was cut off. PO stated he had "glow lights" mounted under the tail section and a switch mounted to the handle bars to turn 'em on/off. windscreen was hacked up, so that's gone now.
updated the parts list with my son that we need so far. bringing some more tools home from work to crack this egg wide open during the week.
kinda feels like I'm playing "Operation" with this bike so far, hehehehehehe
but it's all good:D

got the bike somewhat torn down...

in need of these parts, pm me if you can help me out before I place an order on new/used parts between newcastlehd.com and buellsterparts.com, thanks
