keeps shorting out

I keep blowing the main fuse thats next to the battery under the seat on my xb9r. the pattern seems to be that it happens when it is low on fuel and im really hard on the throttle. which leads me to think it has something to do with the fuel pump. has anyone else ever heard of this?

This damn bike keeps leaving me stranded on the side of the road. Nobodies had or heard of any issues causing the battery fuse to pop

check your grounds,that fuse powers the key switch relay,voltage regulator and all other fuses

regulator,fuel pump,clutch switch,ign relay,key relay all use the same ground.sounds like a fuel pump problem but it should be blowing the pump fuse

u need to check ur battery UNDER load. like at autozone or something. a battery can test good while sitting there, but while bike is running it can be well under spec.

take a test light and clip it to the NEG batt term. then probe the reglator plug pins. if no light the regulator is good. if u have current then a diode in the regulator is bad.

a brand new battery that sits on the sales floor for a year or more, yields way less for use and goes bad quicker.

ur battery checks good by itself. but with all the electrical drawing on it; it could be a bad cell in the battery thats keeps blowing the fuse.

i just blew the 2nd main fuse 10min ago. now im getting 3 more fuses and a new battery Mon.

I seem to remember several threads on here with the same problem and it turned out to be the fuel pump was bad! call your dealer with the vin # to see if there has been a recall on yours. I seem to remeber something about an exposed wire from chaffing or a short.

To check the battery put a voltimeter on the battery post in volts dc mode turn on the bike and if the battery drops more than 1 volt in 15 seconds the battery is bad, no need to use a load tester.
