Mines loose again. Good call on the safety wire. Know what I'm doin tomorrow.

Had it happen to me too. I was thinking about getting this:

http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/c ...

Has anyone tried it?

I just installed mine on my XBSL from ASB the other day. Kinda a pain in the butt to install. You have to drop the muffler to get enough room for the bolts to come out. I have a Micron exhaust so I got away with just undoing the back strap and front muffler bolt. You also have to cut and tie together your kickstand switch as the stand from ASB doesn't use it

One other thing that scared me at first, the ASB stand goes forward when it locks in place and the bike weight is on it. Bikes been sitting on it for the past week and a half and no problems so don't freak out when you put it down ;)

One bolt that holds the kickstand to the engine case on my XB12 '09 rattled loose on me. Went to get off my bike and the lean was dramatic. Bolt was half way out. Re-tightened. Should I redo both bolts with loctite, or wire them? Worried me a little bit, I will probably recheck all bolts.

Aside from the kickstand, does anyone know of any other bolts that like to de-thread themselves?

On my '03, the timing plug worked loose once...check the hardware on the center chin fairing, the two little black screws and all the others while your there. Low strength Loctite works fine in all those areas. The recall on the sidestand also affected my bike, checked and the bolt looked like new, that was several years ago. But, I do have the new pin on hand. Do a general look over of all the hardware you can see for security...forks, triple clamps, "W" bracket, foot peg brackets and heel guards, etc...

Used the search, and figured it was best to revive instead of create new. Got home from work and put the stand down, my '09 12R went with it. What's the dimensions or part number for the Sidestand bracket fasteners?

This is worrying - I thought the '09s wouldn't have kickstand issues - let us know what you find out while fixing it....

5/16-18
-1.25
Grade 8
This was the size for my buddies 05 lightning but I believe all the bot sizes are the same. I have an 09 firebolt and have had no issues with the kickstand but do check regularly.
