Kickstand upgrade?

I've got an 0412s and I guess the word is the kickstand may fail spontaneously. I have to say mine doesn't reek of reliability...is there a recommended upgrade?

I think Buell did a recall for this problem. Although yours would now be out of warranty I have heard reports of Dealers doing this as a goodwill gesture. Even if they will not they should be able to sell you a new upgraded pin.

You can call Buell, contact number on buell.com, and give them your VIN number an they can tell you if tour bike has the recalled kickstand.

I called and if I remember it was bikes made between Feb. and Aug. of 2003, so if you have a 2004 model the manufacture date may fall in that time frame.

buellsterparts.com has sidestands. Used, but good condition. Just ask which years he has.

just make sure you get a regular s or r sidestand not the scg / short sidestand. unless you have lowered your bike. but you all should know that ,.just a thought . if you worry about it get a good used or new one.

When I was in New Mexico back in the early 80's. My bike fell over on the kick stand because it can I had under it wasn't enough for the heat of that day.

Just lost my kickstand last week while riding. (2004 xb12s) The bolt broke right at the threads, then slid out. The kickstand slipped off, nailed the road then smacked my foot! looks like i'll be buying the upgraded kickstand kit. Anybody know the part number?

GET THE KIT! Im very easy on my kick stand (I dont even sit on the bike with it down), and one day the stand started to lean and i literally caught my bike before it hit the ground. The bolt had a weak design so it broke. The new design has thicker bolt. GET IT!

Jobe, what do you mean? Any examples? Im thinking of an air ride suspension but that wouldn't hold a bike up [confused]

No example's. It would be cool tho. I have seen it done on Choppers before. Basically replaces the rear shock with a air filled shock you could raise or lower. You would have to chop the frame at the fork and make a bracket for the air ride suspension. Would be alot of work and very unsafe for everyday riding. Alot of controversy over this subject on chopper forums. What if air ride malfunctions while rideing [sad] Bad news. For show purpose's tho and a bar bike

[confused] That works for a bike with a flat frame but our bikes have unslung exhausts and oil lines going to the swing arm.

My stand broke off parking downtown New Orleans!I drilled the broken bolt out and replaced it with a stainless steel pin, It sucks dropping your bike!
