My wife and i are working on getting her riding. And I'm in the process of finding gear for her. jacket and helmet and gloves are done but now I'm sutck on the Boot issue. Motorcycling is THE ONLY industry where mens fashion and selection FAR exceeds womens. Guys can you ask your gals for their input? Gals I know there are a few out there can you help? Her gear is black and white with a little red. I was looking at the Shift riding shoe but it doesn't look like it will do much good in a crash. I also found the only decent looking sportbike boot/shoes from Vega. Then there is the Icon boots. I read some bad reviews on the icon boots. they look great at first but there is plastic on the heel that slips and needs to be fixed by a shoesmith to be safe. also heard they are too narrow and can cause you to tip over, the finish seems to go away quickly. I dunno?? HELP!!!

BuellChick has the Icon boots and they don't look good for long and they are far from what I would say has any safety to them. They obviously have more built to them then some tennis shoes but BuellChick got them because she needs the wedge design since her bike is on the high side for her.

Here is an options if you want more of a race boot

Yea, i got the rest of her gear from STG. love that place. I pretty much already broke it to her that her best bet for anything other than a worker boot look or a cowgirl HD style her only options are gonna be to choose a mens boot in a comparable size. I read some good reviews on the VEGA one site had like 15 chick riders give 'em the thumbs up. i know i like the price. she wants the shift curve shoes in white but i don't feel that is even remotely enough protection.

I have the Shift riding shoe/boot and they held up great when I crashed last year, BUT I didnt have any smashing affect on my foot, I did slam my heel into the concrete and they may or may not have helped to save me from a crushed heel since it was bruised for a good 2 weeks and hard to even walk on.

Again the Shift shoe is just another alternative to tennis shoes. but then again anything really is unless you go with a race boot......

the mens shift shoes have a mmuch taller ankle. the womens looks like it stops AT the ankle. Maybe i'd have to see it in person. I have the A* SMX shoe and it comes to right above my ankle but I'm not so confident in it anymore. it was nice to do short commutes to class where ihad to walk around all day but when i go ride hard I always wish i had a good raceboot or even a little taller boot.
