I recently did a primary cover swap (crash repair). When I was installing the cover I slid it onto the shifter shaft and tightened everything back up. I then slipped on the rubber gasket before bolting on the shifter. I noticed that this gasket was too large to press in. and it has sort of been flopping around there. I get a nice puddle of oil after rides. Any suggestions on where it possitions?

It should be seated in there, shouldnt be flopping around. I had to replace mine on my 03 because it was leaking a little due to it drying and cracking. How much bigger is it? Did you try seating it with a flat head screw driver? Your local stealership can get you a replacement.

I picked up a replacement gasket at the local harley dealer yesterday. Can someone snap a picture of how their gasket sits in the primary cover. The gasket I got has a circular spring that provides tension on the inside of the gasket.
