Could use some advice.
Bought a 03 xb9s recently and really want to enjoy it.
I have a bunch of older motorcycles and like working on them myself.
Ive never had to mess with fuel injection at all. Ive never had a problem with it.
Are there any "Improvements" to make it more reliable?
Besides a good manual what tools are a must?
Ive been looking threw many posts and have a list of things to be on the lookout. Stators, fuel pumps, bad grounds......This about right? Anything else.
Thanks guys.

Just got my 08 xb12r, stator was bad on it upon arrival. I had a HD/Buell dealership install it for me, as the crankcase had to be popped open. Was $300 out the door, plus a few bolts that were missing on the bike. Other than that, its got 14k on the clock, and still starts and runs perfect!

If you leave the bike close to stock they are very reliable. Most of the time the ones that break down have been heavily modified.

Was it the crank case! or the side cover?
I can handle $300 if its needed.
Wonder if a modern sportster has the same alternator?
Mine has a Jardine muffler. Other than that its stock and I hope to keep my grubby little claws off this one.

One thing ive noticed about Buell..some of the parts are very inexpensive mixed with "will that be you left or right one sir?"

Where is the best deal for a good manual too?

Thank you.

I think that I seen a few go for around 50 bucks not too long ago. I have one for my 06 and is by far one of the best purchases that you can make if you intend to do any maintenance on your bike.

My bad, yes it was just the side cover. The part was $112 and there was 2hrs of labor. Got an oil change and new gasket as well. So for $300 I was rather happy. Plus the dealership was very Buell friendly as a good portion of the service guys were buellers, and my bike attracted alot of attention!

(+1 for Perry Harley Davidson of Kalamazoo, Michigan!)
