Which means the average shop will need to know the torque specs for a bike no one wants to work on. Fat chance. Looks like its Harley or nothing lol.
 
i can give you the specs places like autozone,kreagan and other parts stores have loaner programs but you should have your own for oil changes and other maintenance 10-100 lb range

but I go to my local Yamaha dealer and they hook me up, they match any online price I can find (including Jake Wilson's sales and sportbike track gear) and install for 20 a tire with the wheels still on the bike.
for my last set of tires they even gave me an RSV4 to ride while they did the tire swap.
 
there's an after market shop up in ft lauderdale that is off of 441 i believe. they have a girl that works there that owns a lighting. can't remember the name but i don't there's that many of em.

Being that they work on yamahas how do they know torque specs and the whole 8 piston issue and the wheel getting scratched?
 
Not to hijack this thread but in comparison how much easier is it to rebuild a buell 1200 motor over a 4 stroke inline 4 water cooled super hi compression motor any make. or even the rotax?
 
I know how simple the 1200 thunder storm motor is to rebuild, so my question really is how hard is a higher performance motor then a thunder storm motor?

they didn't need mine and my rims came back cleaner than I dropped them off but otherwise the same

I have the 6 pot caliper but I can't imagine it being that much more difficult to remove.

and lets face it, Honda's are everywhere, any shop worth its salt has somebody that can work on one. there are probably 3 shops in any good sized city.

but a buell really isn't that hard.

also try printing the pages you need from here, its 2005 (6 pot caliper) and its firebolt but it should put anybody in the ballpark
maybe if somebody is in the giving mood they can scan the pages out of their 2008 service manual
 
no idea what ur getting at. I just want to know why its so difficult to find a shop to rotate and balance my tires if i bring them my bike. everyone will take the metric bike and do it no prob...the min i mention a buell [down]
 
He is saying that if you bring the info on how to do it to your local shop they would not have to charge you for the hour it takes them to find it them selves. The buell wheels are diff then most other bikes in the way they are mounted the hardware is completely diff, and they require a diff technique.

Look if you take your own wheels off the bike and bring them in just to have the rubber flipped, they will only charge you $20-$30 a tire to mount and balance. Call and ask 5 shops before you walk out the door. if you have to do one wheel at a time then do one wheel at a time. Its not to complicated.
 
thats the thing lol, how can i direct them when i dont know myself. you seem to know, wish u lived in miami. thus i want to take it to someone...sit on my boney ass...watch them do it while picking my nose..pay them money...and ride away happy. so far no one can do that...believe it or not. I feel like i own a space ship lol
 
thanks delta, kinda reassuring. i just watched some utube videos like people said and it doesnt seem too hard. i would have to buy stands, which i dont want too since i just bought tires, but i guess thats an option in the end. im hoping this shop i posted above can do it no problem.
 
If you want to take the wheels off yourself it's really not too hard...I just did it recently and I'm not overly mechanically inclined.

Besides stands (you'll need front stand with a triple tree adapter), you'll want a torque wrench, a set of allen bits, star bits, a 7/8 socket for the axles (used with the big nut in the tool kit) and a bottle of blue loctite for reassembly later. The service manual does a really good job going over the entire process, you can download it at the top of this page.
 
so if i get the trex stands im looking at and a torque then ill have what i need...im seriously considering doing this if i can get the right service manual.
