All the posts that came up in google from "xb125cg" look like typos, too. Who knows though, hopefully the dealer will be able to clear things up. Ask them to provide a carfax if they are not clear as to whether or not it has a clean title. If it has a salvaged title I would stay away unless you plan on building a track only bike.

The 5 is definitly not an "S". I copied and pasted right from that website.

I have emailed the dealer, and my insurance company... hopefully one of them can shed some light on this asap.

I ran a "carfax" (don't remember site - not carfax) on a virtually new xb12scg and it also came up as a xb125cg.
You can look at the title at the dealer and it will state if it is a salvaged bike.
If it has a clean title, it's a great deal with the goodies. I just paid $5K for a bone stock like-new '08 XB12S at a dealer.

As stated earlier, it has the S suspension on it. The seat is from an xb9sx. So it's the tallest seat made for it. Also the most comfy.

You can get 400+ for the exhaust then buy a stock and have it turned into a hawk.

Mace - I had to pay $5 for the "carfax" (not carfax - they don't do bikes). Just go to the dealer and look at the actual title. There is a check-box for "salvage".

Squid's point out the travel should be a major RED FLAG. It also has a S seat. Consider walking on this one as it does sound too good to be true. Just sayin'...

my insurance says they cant find info on the VIN # and thinks it could be a salvage.

Talked to the dealer --- he is checking and calling me back in TEN MIN.


makes sense if he changed the front end?

insurance says it will cost $135 bucks a year to insure. haha.

Those swaps are really common. People with and S wanting an SCG would trade suspension with someone with an SCG wanting an S.

Most likely it was owned by a taller fella. Because the seat is from the XB9SX and the taller suspension.

I wouldn't sweat it. Look it over really well.

Sometime salvage titled bikes are just fine. I picked up a salvaged 1125r that really wasn't in bad shape at all.

The only thing to double check is to make sure the rear suspension is also from an S.

how would i double check the rear suspension?

the crappy part is the bike is 1.5 hours away from me... luckily i travel for work and can work it into a normal day.

If the bike was wrecked without full coverage insurance (i.e. no reason to total), then an unscrupulous individual or shop could repair and never alter the title.

Make sure you can feel good (without reservations) when you throw your leg over your bike. Can you with this one?

So its strange , usually when people do the swap out they will change the forks and spring. Id say guaranteed it was crashed and a shop replaced the front end with regular S forks without even knowing the difference.

ok.... well, i think with that in mind, and the fact that something "just doesnt feel right" about the bike is going to make me pass on the bike.

The title is showing up as clear..... but obviously things were changed with the suspension and it seems odd.

Bottom line is test drive the bike, and see if everything mechanically is fine with the bike. If you like the bike and are getting it at a good price, who cares either way. Especially since your insurance company said they would insure, and you are getting all the extras that you could sell if you wanted to replace with the "stock" stuff for that bike. You have made the first step and that is pick a great bike, and an awesome forum for help and info. Good luck.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. Id take it for a test run if i were you . It could ride great plus you have the coveted race exhaust. If it does run straight then you could just swap out the rear spring and make it a complete S .

what state is it in. it should say on the pink slip if it's rebuilt or salvaged and keep in mind there are a lot of people who traded there SCG stuff for S stuff some people did it because there short others did it kinda like the chevy SS clone thing to get more from the blue book
