For a while when I pull the front brake I could hear a faint buzzing noise come from the front master cyclinder. Yesterday I replaced the front brakes and now I hear the buzzing alot more, more after about 15mph for some reason, if I just very lightly touch the front brake the sound kind of fluctuates. Pads don't seems to be rubbing the rotor ecause I can cruise around for a while and come home and the front rotor isn't hot. Any ideas?

Almost sounds like an electrical buzzing. Hell I dunno. Bumpity bump

I have Lyndall Gold pads on the front of my bike and upon light braking my pads make kind of a buzzing noise. It really isn't buzzing but does kind of sound like it. Are you sure its coming from your master cylinder?

I'm clueless as well..

Bumpity bump bump TTT

I hear this also after replacing my pads a couple months ago, damned if i can figure out what the noise is, good luck and hopefully we can all learn from this.

If its the noise im thinking of.... it may be the same noise as mine. I hear a whirring which could be described as a faint buzz and what I attribute it to the drilled rotor.

I have heard this noise ever since new, and it will fluctuate with weather or with new pads.

My vote is for the drilled rotor whirring through the new pads... Let me know if this helps

My Truck does the same thing and it has drilled and slotted rotors.

I agree with Mark's assesment....mine does it too. I believe it is what kab is hearing. The pads are almost always just "touching" the rotor on any disc brake set-up...there is no "return spring" for the caliper pistons like on a drum brake. I sort of think it sounds cool when you nail that front brake!

Yup it must be the pads whirring close to the rotor. I went for a cruise with some safety glasses instead of my helmet and the sound is coming from down by the caliper. I appreciate everyone's input here, this is a damn good active forum to be a part of.

I've ALWAYS wondered what the hell that noise is since I bought my bike! My Honda 600RR doesn't make this sound at all when braking. It really freaked me out at first because I thought something was wrong with the caliper, but the front brake has always worked perfectly and stopped the bike strongly so I didn't sweat it too much. Never thought about the slotted rotors being the culprit.

To me it almost sounds like there is something mechanically pulsating in the caliper when braking which I would say sounds like a buzzing/whirring/pulsating sound.
