Mileage?

I'm like 2nastyn8, with 1500 miles on the clock, I get around 40ish even with 'behaved' riding (is there such a thing on our bikes??!)
:p

38? Check your filter and also the cone that goes into the throttle body and the fitment of the cone in the airbox. Guy who had the bike before me didn't know what he was doing, he put a k&n in the bike but didn't put everything else back in right. Fixed all that and went from 40MPG to 50+mpg

i constantly get about 50-53mpg,(driving at 70-75mph) i have got up to 56mpg a few times on longer rides and if I would of not hit the throttle hard a few times passing big trucks, i probably would of hit 60mpg. i love the fuel Efficiency of my BUELL.
wish i could drive it every day. i cant complain about my daily driver either great gas milage on it for a 400HP supercharged V8, 2004 SVT COBRA it gets 22-23mpg .

Im on a brand new 2009 firebolt xb12R I think the dealership short changed me on my first tank (32 mpg) and the second tank I put 87 octane in instead of of 91 which gave me 29 mpg. Also rode it pretty hard

I'm going to ease off the throttle this time, change the oil with some RP, and use 91 octane and see where that puts me.

2007 12s with bout 1400 on the odo now. knN, urban assault's muffler mod and breather reroute. i know all the airbox components are together right ive had em apart many times. I vary in my riding too ridin it like i stole it sometimes and cruisin sometimes but ive never had over 40 mpg before or after mods

dont use anything less than 91 OCTANE ...... YOUR NOT SAVING ANY MONEY when buy cheaper 87octane or 89octane gas and you will get less milage and possible DAMAGED to the engine especially if you run lower grade octane alot. THAT WILL COST YOU ALOT MORE MONEY DOWN THE ROAD SOONER OR LATER >>>>
buell engines are designed for 91 octane for many many reason , one of them being for better mpg( and BETTER power)....

oh and from most buellers have said the milage is usually lower during the break in period then gets alot better.

k i was thinkin that 2 bout the break in. my 07 12s was a brand new bike when i got it last fall. the dealer i got it from had it on display at a local bike night bar for almost two years so brand new 07 in 09

i got around 60 mpg one time on a full tank. out of 10k miles i put on it,,,

10 XB12Ss still breaking it in, but twisting the throttle all the time = just over 30 mpg on the last tank. Money out the exhaust pipe all in the name of fun. :)

Jeesh..something must be up. Im only gettin about 40mpg. Although I guess thats not that bad considering the way I ride..[smirk]

When computing statistics or analyzing data the highest and lowest values are considered abnormalities and thrown out giving you more accurate trending characteristics.
Sorry you would have to get 60 gpm twice to make it count:(

i think what every one means is what they are getting on an average basis for for most of thier riding and what are some of the best milage they have been able to achieve on occasion . i stated i have hit the 56mpg once and know if i didnt hit the throttle as often I would PROBABLY be able to hit it again and again and maybe better if the conditions was the same but they hardly ever are the same thats why it is just what do i get on average mpg. EPA milage chart chart onnew vehices is an average of milage based on old 70s and 80s epa milage tests. they are not that acturate at what the true milage will be , but from what epa milage tests have showed in prime conditions and around 40-60mph. on just a few miles i the tests. look it up. the newer epa tests are not that much more accurate either.

hell i have drove 40-45mph once on low fuel light drove about 45 miles , that means that i drove 45 miles on just 3/4(.75gallons) gallon .

hell thats 60mpg.

The city and highway tests are currently performed under mild climate conditions (75 degrees F) and include acceleration rates and driving speeds that EPA believes are generally lower than those used by drivers in the real world. Neither test is run while using accessories, such as air conditioning. The highway test has a top speed of 60 miles per hour, and an average speed of only 48 miles per hour.

Since the mid-1990s, EPA's emissions certification program has required the use of three additional tests which capture a much broader range of real-world driving conditions, including high-speed, fast-acceleration driving, the use of air conditioning, and colder temperature operation (20 degrees F). These conditions affect not only the amount of air pollutants a vehicle emits, but also a vehicle’s fuel economy. However, these tests were not required to measure fuel economy.

For the first 1000mi I averaged 40 mpg, now I've got 5000mi on the odo and I average 54. At the end of last riding season coming back from PA I managed to get 62mpg on 2 of my tanks, but man it was hard keeping it at 60-65mph.:)
