Sorry for another ecmspy post all.

got the cable, got ecmspy, installed drivers, bike on, kill switch set to run

i tell ecmspy to auto pick a com port and it says com port found or something. then in the bottom left hand corner it has BUEIB310 so i think it is reading my ecm.

but then when i blip the throttle to see if its reading, nothing happens in the program...

anyone live in the chicagoland area and feel like helping a noob ?

thanks all.
jeff

im running an older laptop with xp on it. i was going to bring my desktop out to the garage to try my luck with that, but your suggestion worked CBi !! thank you !!

i was thinking it was going to be some complicated driver issue that is over my head... but it was a simple software user error. i hadn't read anywhere about the key button (online/offline mode) and never really familiarized myself with every button in ecmspy.

anyway, thanks again!

check and make sure your cable driver has bin installed. plug the cord in the usb and go to Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers. or Control Panel\Hardware and Sound and device manager. check and see if there is a device under other with a yellow icon on it. if so you need the download the driver. you can get it at http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

I run xp and have to click the keys. Not completely sure but I think regardless of operating system you have to click the keys.

So now it is reading and working. here's a question:

when i attempt to do a tps reset, the tps never reaches 0. it only gets down to 0.8. has this happened to anyone ?

That makes sense. It's not like you can go below zero. I imagine that is why they say once you reach zero, back out two more turns before you reset, right? Just to make sure it is totally zeroed.

I'll do this when i get home from work today

I was putting on a replacement TPS a couple nights ago, and found there is enough play in the holes on the TPS that is can get "clocked" up to 1.8%. I would suggest backing out the idle screw all the way, loosen the TPS screws (7MM), while you are connected, then move the TPS until it reads 0, then tighten it back up.

"cocked"?

what your saying is the actual body of the tps can become rotated enough to give that deviation?
