I have Progressive for my Buell. They don't allow me to add Total Loss as the policy option. Do other insurance companies do the same b/c Buells are no longer in production?

I have progressive also...I will have to check that. I cant remember if I have that option or not....hmmmm

Jb

I have progressive and they should cover total loss, I know mine does. If you entered your vin and it ran a check it may have found something or produced an error causing this.

When I select the option it tells me Total Loss is not available coverage option for this motorcycle based on the age and type. Agreed value maybe available for this age and type of motorcycle.

I see this as a "Win" for Buell means insurance companies are realizing the rarity and thatthese bikes will only be increasing in value. So keep um in good shape!!!

Just called the company. They said, they only allow total loss for bikes that are 1 year old. If I were to be in a accident and bike was damaged than they would still pay me for the value of the bike at that time or pay for the repair minus the deductible.

Yeah I have progressive and the pay the value of the bike. They don't don't use kbb they use something else to determine that. Progressive was the best deall but I'm a Usaa member so I don't know if we get special rates. I even have all me gear covered [up]

If you log into your USAA account to get a motorcycle quote, it actually routes you through Progressive but with a USAA discount applied. They use Progressive for their coverage instead of doing it in-house. I don't recall the amount Progressive wanted for the Buell, but I remember getting a quote from them on my FZ6 for liability only; they wanted $700 every six months! That was with me calling Progressive directly for a quote and not going through USAA.

USAA for full coverage is around $40 per month, I'll have to check to see the exact amount. Granted the FZ6 quote was about four years ago.

I had progressive they cover total loss but wont buy a new bike. They buy you a used same year bike. Dairyland will buy you a new bike in the event of a total loss. They will give you a low quote and when you go to pay it it will go up about $200 more then the initial quote and then they will raise your rates about 90 days after you have been with them another $50. I dumped them when they pulled all that. Im with Geico now. They were the cheapest and it the same as progressive. They will cover total loss but only replace with a same year bike as you own. $677 a year full coverage for my 2013 BMW S1000RR and my 2009 Buell 1125CR. Insuring a 2nd bike knocked $350 off my annual cost. Discount for paying all at once instead of monthly. No tickets in 10 years.

$677 is good for that BMW. I got a quote for one and progressive told me 107$ a month. They quoted me only 48$ a month on something like a V-max or a Diavel. $60 a month on a XB12r. My ninja 650r is only 28$ a month.

I have Geico for my Bikes and SO FAR they have been pretty good. I am reserving judgement for the long term as I am in the middle of a claim due to being clobbered by a drunk driver (car) while on my bike.
IF the other drivers is underinsured, my insurer might end up having to pay some as well.
The drunk car driver who hit me (I have injurys) was insured by Progressive. I am not terribly impressed by them. Most of their reps and adjusters seem to be stupid and inexperienced, and one in particular is a A-hole moron to the extreme. However, finally am dealing with one of their reps who seems to be competent and we seem to be getting somewhere. We shall see.
My lawyer, a local rep for AIM (Aid to injured Motorcyclists) has been doing personal injury cases for bikers for 25 years and commented that Progressive can be a problem in his experience. He felt they spent all their money in advertising and cut corners everywhere else.
This situation is of course ongoing and likely for a year or so will be ups and downs. ask me again 12 months from now.
ironically,,,,,as i type this theres a banner ad right below the box for "post your reply" for Geico and "15% off!" and a lizard is staring at me. weird huh? Sorry Flo, better get your act together.

My experiance is u can call the same insurance company (state farm fuck you over) less then 15 miles apart and get total different price and services.they all sound nice when you owe them, but when it comes to them owing you, haha it takes time and their dicks. I full cover everything, they had the nerve to tell me we are not here for you to make money off of us.i pay full coverage,so i want my shit covered.

I price shop my car and bike insurance annually. (I also pay annually) Rates vary widely. I mean like 500% difference between companies. Last spring cheapest was Geico at $135.70 for my 2009 XB12R, full coverage, 100k/300k, 500 deductible. Progressive wanted around $450 for same policy. State Farm, Nationwide, Auto-owners were a little higher averaging around $500. Several years ago Progressive was cheaper. Go figure! No claims, accidents, tickets, etc. I have zero loyalty and whoever is cheapest gets my money for the year. I price shop the 10 largest insurance companies and go with whoever gets me the best price for the coverage I want.

That was a good advice Lawdog. Loyalty to the same company for years sometimes doesn't count when it comes to insurance. I think I have to check with USAA and Geico and compare rates. I feel like switching companies now, not really happy with premiums increasing every year.
