Just received the Clutchlite XX-Soft I bought on ebay, anything I should know before messing with this?

The Clutchlite xx-soft was easy to install, But now re-adjusting the clutch is kicking my A. After I get it adjusted to the specs in the manual and start the bike on a swingarm stand the rear tire spins in neutral and if I shift it into first thr tire spins even when the clutch lever is pulled. Any body know how to fix this?

Did you adjust the Clutch cable adjustment first and then the one inside the Primary?

Put the bike on the ground when adjusting. Did you use the adjusting screw first? Primary first then the cable. Turn the screw in first till you feel tension then back off a half of a turn. Then adjust the cable with about 3mm freplay gap and you should be good. Give this a shot and let me know how it works.

Great advice, I owned a Sportster for 16 years and adjusted the clutch many times, allways on the ground. After putting the X1 on the ground it was fine, I think it just need to warm up, it was cold here this morning.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, with the Clutchlite xx-soft installed on my X1, the pull has been reduced to as light as my girl friends 09 XB. Well worth $40 and about 10 minutes, after some good advice from crxtasy169!

guys... get a hydro glutch from magura. Thats the best u can do regarding reducing required force but keep the glutch sensitive. And they are quite effortable now.

Does anyone know where to find a video of the muller install? I used to do everything with my dad whose a mechanic but he moved out of town. :(

Hey guys, hope this thread isn't totally dead. I have an 08 Xb12r ready for a new clutch. was thinking about going to shorter levers and putting the muller in, but i was wondering what exactly makes the difference in the pull from the muller? and will it make a ton of difference in my 08 Xb?

It's the longer lever arm on the clutch ramp mechanism I believe.

If we can help you out on the clutch pack or the shorty levers let us know.

Cool. Ok, so more questions are popping into my head now. Should I replace anything else besides the friction plates and the diaphragm spring? my bike has 38,000 miles on the stock clutch, no slipage yet, but the lever pull has been falling off quicker lately, and I replaced the cable just a little while ago.
I was looking at kits from Energy One, is this a descent company? and obviously I need the clutch compression tool too yes? seems like a dumb question, but I saw a DIY thread on here for pulling the stator, and the guy popped the retaining ring out without ever mentioning the compression tool? Or is the procedure not as similar as i think for pulling the primary sprockets out then replacing the friction plates?
P.S. the bolt holding the front crank sprocket and stator on broke so I'm taking it all apart because i want to check the stator for damage.

Your lever is probably worn out. 08+ don't have as tough a pull as pre 08.

Just discovered a free spirits soft pull mechanism in my 05 rebuild "oh yeah!".

I think it's kindof useless in 08+ but if it's what you want go for it. It does work

5-0 has energy one clutches and can order others I bet. I've got a new in bag EO clutch also but I'll probably keep it for myself.
+ i have complete stock clutch & basket from 04 XB12. low mileage.

Ok, that's what I was wondering cause i keep reading about things they changed in 08+ bikes, and i never thought the clutch was difficult to pull, but I haven't rode anything older. I think I'll hold off on the Muller till I decide the short levers are too much to handle, and definitely invest in new levers soon.
Thanks for you opinions!
