My dirty little tire secret

OK, right off the bat, I'm cheap as hell, make that "poor as hell" make that "two missed paychecks from shitting in a shoe box under an overpass", you get the idea. So here I am, 10,000 km into my stock Pirelli rear and cords are showing. What to do....Hit up the Suzuki,Yamaha dealership. They want $500 a set, ya right. Take a look at the scrap tire rack out back. $20 installed for a Dunlop D207, about half used. Should last me the rest of the year, I have done this for years. A good way to stay on the road when money is tight. Wayne

In a pinch I guess that's hell of a lot better than riding on cord. And for $20, I guess you can't go wrong. I wish I could a tire mounted and balanced for $20, let alone a tire to go with it.

I had two worn out tires in the back of my truck and a guy came up and asked if he could have them... I was like really>? better than spending 4 bucks to get rid of them...

The one dealership I got my last bike from used to have a stack of ok tires sitting out back of it. Their main bikes were bmws, so they had more than enough guys with the cash to always throw some fresh tires on their bike. If you learn how to mount/balance them yourself you could be riding on free tires for life. Now that I think of it I should ride past there again, both of my tires are getting low and my inspection is gonna be due in October...

Cyclegear.com has replacement Pirelli Diablo Supersport rears (same as stock) for $135. Dirt cheap compared with what we pay in Canada. I had them ship a front & rear, and with shipping both tires cost me less than $300 all up. For some reason, I didn't get charged import duty either! Only needed to fit & balance the front so far, which M Speed in Vancouver did for $45.

Go talk to a mech. at your local shop. I get all mine 100$ installed. Usually hafta do it fast while the boss is on lunch
