took off the belt guards today! The bike looks SO different!

although, I want a small hugger light the firebolt has...

don't spend all your money at once, there, kajer...keep something to change every year so you get that new bike feeling every now & then ;)

love the bike dude, i got the same one just a week ago, I LOVE IT!!! I am honored to be part of the buell crazieness

Hey Kajer, can you post a pic of the final install with the relay? If there's a part number or particular type of relay needed and can you include that as well? Thanks

So with this headlight mod it works like this?

Key to steerlock and park, just the centre parker globe lights up

Key on and engine running, light work as normal?(i already have the twin light wire swap done)

Do i need to swap the twin light on wire mod back 1st?

Matt

Edit, ive been over this and over this time and time again and cant see how it can work, cause looking at your relay pic the low beam circuit, yellow, still retains it power via the NC contact, wont that still power the low beam when in park mode?

Now i think about it, im probly better just adding a diode to the parking light output of the key to the parking light circuit only

I really need to see a wiring diagram to see how its set up

EDIT 2:

Now i look at it, the twin light mod just swaps the Low beam wire with the park wire, is this right

Correct me if im worng

EDIT 3:

Now i look at it, the twin light mod just swaps the Low beam wire with the park wire, right

Now if you run HID's and use the changeover relay stated at the start of this thread you will drop low bean out when you hit high beam, and they wont restart all the time

Here is what you need to do(im about to do it):

1st leave your headlight plug stock

2nd you need to add a bridging wire in the high/low switch, from the 12V supply to the low beam contact, so you CANT turn off low beam(you can do this bridge at the joins behind the shield)

3rd you need a relay(well you dont have to but you run the risk of over loading the headlight circuit), and with this relay you cut and put the white high beam wire feed on the coil(85) and black negative wire on the coil(86), then you use your park feed(separate fuse to headlights) to supply pin 30 on your relay, and the white wire(heading to the high beam globe) you cut on pin 87

Doing this means low beam always runs, the parkers work as they should and high beam will come on at the same time as low beam, but use the parkers power supply to run the globe, this splits the load evenly accross two circuits(same as kajer's setup)

Make sense, nup, ok ill draw a pic when i get a chance

There are 4 wires going to the XB12Ss headlight assembly

ground, park, low and high.

The '09 Ss models came with that center park light installed by default. So, previous mods swapped the park light for the low without any ill effects.

What I did, was I wanted to keep my parking light working independent of the headlamps. When you turn your key to lock/park, only the center lamp and the tail come on. other positions, the center + headlights come on. The relay mod I did keeps everything 'normal' when the low beam is on. The relay only changes when the high beam is activated. The way the stock hi/low selector switch is setup on the lightnings, is one wire is fed to either light, but not both. So I made the relay grab power from the parking light circuit, ONLY when the highbeam is desired.

Thats the same as the way my circuit works, it uses the park feed on high, but mine has no drop out(be it milli seconds) between switching from low to high

My circuit is using your idea, BUT is a must for HID's

Here, see if you can see what i mean:

The blue cable is the feed for the headlights, from the fuse to the switch, you can access it under the cluster easy, the rest of the colours are the same as yours

Just completed this now on my bike, very happy with it, works perfectly now!

but if you bridge the switch in the controls, then the relay is ALWAYS on??? [confused]
