Well, I pulled the trigger on a lightning I was asking about a few days back. It is perfect! Zero issues and perfect condition.

The bike came with all the aftermarket parts, and ALL of the OEM takeoffs. It currently has a softer way more comfortable seat installed, and came with the OEM, both in perfect condition. Also came with bar end mirrors installed (I think I may get larger ones), and OEM ones in a box. Also has a Jardine exhaust- the OEM was also thrown in. Im pretty pleased, I also averaged 62 mpg on the way home, so thats a plus!

Question, are all of the aftermarket exhausts loud as sh!t on the highway? I rode the bike 3 hours home, after the first hour I had to stop at a truckstop and pick up some ear plugs to put under my helmet. Not a big deal as I don't think Ill take trips longer than 1 hour usually, but curious.

Nice buy man! Get some pictures up!! And welcome to the forum.

And I yes there are after market pipes louder and quieter then the jardine. All in personal opinion.

And what kind of price did you pay if you don't mind me asking. My friend is in the market for an SS

I also have an Ss. Mine has a Drummer on it and I don't find it excessively loud at the 96dB level it puts out. Then again, I also ride single cylinder thumpers which are quite a bit louder so I may already be deaf!

The Drummer does drone on after a while on trips over 3 hours, but if you are just doing little 1 hr rides, it shouldn't be a problem. I believe a sound damping tip is also available for it.

Congrats! I have a drummer on mine and for extended rides I wear ear plugs. You don't even notice they're in after awhile. If I'm just going to be cruising around town I go without.

Taken 2 minutes after I made the transaction. Very happy with my bike!
Question: What do people usually do with the plate light after the fender elim? I think the PO drilled through his plate and mounted it directly on that

Welcome! Nice ride!

I used LED license plate bolts from Ebay. You can kinda see them in these pics:

A couple questions. Will the jardine pipe, kn air filter, breather mod; in conjunction with the Jardine Protune 3 net me any gains? Or is it just "cool factor"? I imagine there are some sort of gains, but since I bought the bike this way, I have no comparison.

I was tinkering in the garage to get to know my bike a little more, we are starting off nice and slow/ wanting to know everything about her. So far she has been good to me, her name is Monique <3

john: i just bought a 2010 lightning SS dark model with 210 miles on it for $5600 cash. thought that was an exceptional deal but gives you idea what is out there. had to travel 13 hour round trip in 1 day for it.

and pick up some ear plugs to put under my helmet
if you'd still enjoy excellent hearing in your later years such as i have, earplugs when riding the single best thing you can do for yourself

What about head phones in your ears as I love music? And rocking out of the bike hahah or this that counterproductive because I'm just turning my music up all the way hah.

Damn man that drives sounds like something I would think was do able to get the bike till the day of the drive which blows hahah. I drove to Denver for mine with was 8 hours each way. But ok that sounds like an awesome deal for NO miles. I mean there's one in des moine right now starting at 5400 and he has if I remember right like 13,000. Which for a harley motor isn't bad but you know the value of the bike is only like 4200 Ish.

Alright so instead of clogging up the site with another,"How to tune my XB12" I figured I would just ask on my thread I have made already. Currently it has a Protune3 card on the bike. And I want to do away with that, and get a tune of some sort. I know the best is to take it somewhere and just have it dyno tuned. But thats kind of out of the question for now.

Any suggestions? EBR race ecm? Flash my own?
I know I can read on this stuff all day long, but I would rather have a discussion about the topic before I pulled the trigger.

I have a pretty generic combo: Jardine RT1/K&N filter/breather mod.

Any suggestions? EBR race ecm?
I have nothing but good to say about the EBR ECM. I have one paired up with a Drummer and it's removed most of the low rpm stumbles & decel pops. It's also improved throttle response & power across the rev range, particularly above 5000 rpm.

Congrats on the bike!

I also have a Jardine and I'm pretty sure they should give earplugs in the box with the pipe. I've never owned anything so loud. I put the quiet insert in mine but it didn't change much. It actually fixed the stutter I had between 4-5K rpms more than anything.

Just so you know, the Jardine IS Definitely that loud and I have now come to the point that I wear earplugs whenever I am within visual distance of my bike for the sake of my hearing.

Hi Jordank ... I saw the drummer on your pic - it´s a Jardine RT-1 carbon.
I also have a Buell xb12ss Lightning Long from 2009 which had the same.

This drummer sucks!!! As faster as you drive as louder this thing gets !!!
Unfortunately - what should be better - it´s not that loud if ride in town.

I sold my one for a good price and got a Sebring Twister (German pipe)
because I`m from Germany and will go back in 2-3 years - so that´s perfect.

I was also looking for a Buell race exhaust - b/c I`d one in '07 on my xb9sx.
This one has a nice deep sound which won´t kill you riding the bike hours.

Unfortunately I have no experiences with all those other D&D and all those
other brands ... but the Buell race exhaust ist very good - just sell the RT-1!

I also bought some ear plugs when I rode the xb12ss the first time visiting
OCC (Orange County Choppers) in Newburgh, NY heading out from NYC.

I too have a XB12SS. Best bike ever made. Made loads of changes and mods. Always trying to improve.
Enjoy.
