Let me start right after my first surgery. The surgery was my first time ever, and they also asked me this and I told them the truth. Well they thought it would be a good idea to give me a sedative before I went into surgery for the silly gas. This was the worst thing ever, I never even remembered going into the surgery room. I just remember being woke up in the room with everything having to reboot (head, body, eyes, etc. anyone who has had this pre-surgery sedative knows what its like), seeing this HUGE thing on my shoulder, not being able to remember a damn thing, and honestly, I broke down. At that point ALL I wanted was to get the **** out of that place and back into the comfort of my own home. I told them I was ok and I was ready to go. They kept me for about 30 more mins before letting me go.
After the first surgery I had a blood vessel that wouldnt stop bleeding.
Took a nap cause the doctor said to let it clot. Woke up to gf coming home and to this...
This was under my arm connected to my back, dried blood. Yes, a different part then the one on the couch.
Went to the ER to get the bandages redone
Afterwards they sent me home again still bleeding, sleeping that night was awful. I had to sit up and I was still draining blood all night (not nearly as much as before). I was also not able to shower for at least three days cause the doctors orders. Needless to say when I was able to take a bath and the gf helped me I was so thankful for her helping me feel clean and like a human being again I had tears in my eyes. Having to go through two days of being nasty with dry crusty blood on you is awful.
Moving forward, no more complications. I finally got the stitches out and felt SO much better.
My bone was looking good also.
Next was getting the plate out since I am active and it would be terrible to break that plate. Plus it was really annoying.
Got the plate out, and this time no crazy bleeding, no prior sedition, which meant I was perfectly fine afterwards and even remember going into the surgery room!
Have no picture really of that process, but here is an updated picture for you to end the story.
I recently had an MRI done for my shoulder pain, which included a 4" needle in my shoulder socket. Needless to say the MRI came back ok, but my doctor said my cartilage is now that of a 50yr old.
I still wouldnt take the experience back. I had a lot of "firsts" with all this-
Track day
Knee drag
Broken bone
morphine
Ambulance ride
Surgery (everything that goes with it)
High side
New rear tire
track wreck
beading on rear tire from leaning
Still, If you can avoid all this, It might be better to do so.
