I'd like to hear more. I'm curious about how you crashed, if you don't mind talking about it. I'm glad it wasn't worse for you, hope you get back in the saddle faster than possible. Best wishes to you.

Glad your ok!

Dont worry about getting the surgery, i just had mine about 8 months ago and im back at 99%. I never even notice unless somehow someone/something grabs me right on the collar bone, then you feel that metal underneath and it stings real nice lol.

Cant wait for my first track day, need to buy a truck first tho...

heres what mine looked like, broke it in 2 places riding home in the rain too quickly lol

This is what it looks like after surgery

Let me start right after my first surgery. The surgery was my first time ever, and they also asked me this and I told them the truth. Well they thought it would be a good idea to give me a sedative before I went into surgery for the silly gas. This was the worst thing ever, I never even remembered going into the surgery room. I just remember being woke up in the room with everything having to reboot (head, body, eyes, etc. anyone who has had this pre-surgery sedative knows what its like), seeing this HUGE thing on my shoulder, not being able to remember a damn thing, and honestly, I broke down. At that point ALL I wanted was to get the **** out of that place and back into the comfort of my own home. I told them I was ok and I was ready to go. They kept me for about 30 more mins before letting me go.

After the first surgery I had a blood vessel that wouldnt stop bleeding.

Took a nap cause the doctor said to let it clot. Woke up to gf coming home and to this...

This was under my arm connected to my back, dried blood. Yes, a different part then the one on the couch.

Afterwards they sent me home again still bleeding, sleeping that night was awful. I had to sit up and I was still draining blood all night (not nearly as much as before). I was also not able to shower for at least three days cause the doctors orders. Needless to say when I was able to take a bath and the gf helped me I was so thankful for her helping me feel clean and like a human being again I had tears in my eyes. Having to go through two days of being nasty with dry crusty blood on you is awful.

Moving forward, no more complications. I finally got the stitches out and felt SO much better.

My bone was looking good also.

Next was getting the plate out since I am active and it would be terrible to break that plate. Plus it was really annoying.
Got the plate out, and this time no crazy bleeding, no prior sedition, which meant I was perfectly fine afterwards and even remember going into the surgery room!

Have no picture really of that process, but here is an updated picture for you to end the story.

I recently had an MRI done for my shoulder pain, which included a 4" needle in my shoulder socket. Needless to say the MRI came back ok, but my doctor said my cartilage is now that of a 50yr old.

I still wouldnt take the experience back. I had a lot of "firsts" with all this-
Track day
Knee drag
Broken bone
morphine
Ambulance ride
Surgery (everything that goes with it)
High side
New rear tire
track wreck
beading on rear tire from leaning

Still, If you can avoid all this, It might be better to do so. ;)

Jesus. That's a pretty nasty injury for a broken clavicle! You need to figure out a way to turn your metal plate into a brake lever :D

I was thinking maybe a shift peg,
And I need to go back before the year is done.

I hear you there. I was lucky and only had to poop once while it was "broke"

Sucks more moving. Broken collar bone is said to be the second most painful bone to break since it connects everything.

Jees loki, glad your ok dude. Could be worse though. But no regrets man. Its the sum of our experiences that make us who we are.

hehe...makes me want to watch that twist of the wrist video again.

btw, that plate seems like it could easily be made into a front brake lever ;)

Jb

Front brake lever would be harder since you have to have a plunger, wide part next to the mounting to hit the brake switch, etc.

Did you catapult yourself with your knee? Not putting your knee out far enough possibly so that it dragged? Instead you may have pointed your knee a little forward and causing you to highside.

Loki! I'm not on here much anymore, just saw this post. Glad to see that you're doing alright. Love some track days but have never liked using my daily for such purposes. Maybe try and find a cheap track bike.

Curious, what is your insurance situation with the bike? I've had buddies go down at the track and have some issues with their insurance covering the bike, or gear.

The bike was in way better shape then I was and barely needed any new parts. most parts I wanted to upgrade anyways. 50dro's sliders helped a bunch, plus having track plastics.

Most insurance companies will try to get out of paying for it, but as long as it is not a race or timed event, it is covered.

Wow you were in worse shape than the bike, maybe you should have the doctor install frame sliders on you! ;) JK hope you get as close to a %100 as possible.
