Brand new battery. Battery is at like 11 volts does not change when bike is running or not (not charging at all). Bike stays running when started. Im guessing its a bad regulator? bike only has 8,000 miles on it. Anyone know where I can get a regulator, or how to troublshoot to verify that its bad? Possibly a HD part number. I cant find one anywhere.

troubleshoot by disconnecting the stator from the regulator and look for AC voltage at the plug when it is running, the plug by the rear jug down low, probly zip tied to the tube running from the oil cooler to tail

Didn't have a chance to test the stator yet. Do you think that the bike would stay running without the stator working properly? I had to push start it but once it was running it never died. The check engine light flases a low battery voltage code but goes off above 2k rpm. I saw a new regulator was like $120 on a buell parts website

yes it will stay running as long as it can draw from the battery. when the batt has no more juce it will then shut off. ask me how i know :( thy the connector check first, that connector has had its own problems. i believe its called the 77 conector check, or something like that. the AC voltage check is also a great check. but also a more primitive check is to remove your regulator and look at the back of it. if it looks or smells burnt its bad. you can get replacement regulators for around 125 bucks.

besides the connector the regulator is the most likely problem,
good luck, mark

Regulator did not fix it. Still not charging. Got 12 volts at stator plug, guessing its the stator HD part number for a 2009 xb12r the same as the rest? it looks like 29971-08 is the right one?

Is that 12VAC or 12VDC it should be way more than 12. I think you may have set the multi to read DC and not AC.
The multimeter needs to be set on AC.

The regulator can also be check my taking a dc read with the negative to negative and positive to positive post on battery. While your bike is running it should be showing between 13.6 to 14 volts.
