sorry, it's more or less buell related, but i'm a bit frustrated and depressed...need to get this out!

i just got the news that i need to drop my sporting activities from 6 times/week to none! it seems i was 'blessed' with an 85 year-old knee...bye bye contact sports & long buell rides!

if i'm 'lucky', i'll reach 40 before i need a prosthetic knee

so just go on shorter rides....or get a sweet ass titanium knee with puck attachments and drag the hell out of it!!! :D[up]

haven't you guys seen the guy who rides with double prosthesis knee down? I'm sure it's possible to ride with the bum knee! [up]

Sorry to here about your knee. I got mine fixed about 5 years ago, only took 30 years till I was ready to go under the knife. Well it finally locked up so I had too. Had I know how good it turned out I would have got it fixed sooner. Sports Doctors have come a long way since 1976 when I tore it up. Good luck! I'm 49 but the knee feels 20 again. Wonder if that doc could fix my back. lol

Sorry to hear that LeFox, I recommend getting it fixed. It will be worth it in the long run. Good luck.

So that explains your absense....

Been wondering about your shortened activity on the forum.

Hope all goes well, also make sure to get a robotic knee :D

if you are "lucky" you will get it fixed before you turn 40. it'll only get worse, trust me. don't let it get you down :)

Lefox, I had my knee done about 6 months ago. I'm 44. I was on my knees crawling under peoples houses for 14 years as a plumber and destroyed them. Hense the job change, I work in a hospital as a oxygen tech. The number of knee orthoscopic surgerys and total knee replacements is incredible and commonplace now. My knee feels better than it has in years and I am very glad I have had it done. I still ride my 1125 all the time. I have taken several 400+ mile rides and will be taking a 600 mile one next week. (I do have the XB drop pegs for it). I know it sux but its a part of life. As we get older we just have to be a little smarter and more careful of what we do. I used to race motocross and was the state vintage bike champion for awhile but when I would take a dirt sample next to a couple of teenagers, they would get up just a little faster than me. Oh well, at least I can still ride. I'm not an amputee who cant enjoy throwing a leg over a bike or worse. Cheer up Lefox, you live a great country, gaurded buy great people like xtreme so we can have the freedom to ride, and we have the technology to fix your knee so you can walk hand in hand next to a beutiful women for many years to come and hey, you have a pretty cool bike and you will still be able to ride it!!

Don't feel down man! One of my friends has broken almost every single bone in his body. He has had his knees replaced, I can't remember if they were titanium or some sort of plastic, but we still ride together. He is like 33, so don't worry man, you will be able to get back out there!

Sorry for the bad news, I'll remember you in my prayers. My ankles, lower back, knees and shoulders all suck. It comes from over 300 military static line parachute jumps. Pain is just a regular part of my life. Just remember there are more old bikers than there are old doctors.

thx for the support guys!

docs here say it's to early to operate since i'm only 34 and i can still walk without too much pain.

i can still ride but after 3-4 hours, i will feel it for a few days and have a swollen knee.

but other 2 passions are goners!
i teach 2 types of full contact martial arts and was a contender on european level.
so now i have to close my 2 sport schools :( which is [down]

Lefox, I was going to ask if you'd thought of getting them done now while you were younger. Don't sweat it bro, one of my buddies had his knee replaced (mult skiing injuries) and his recovery time was 4 weeks. Medical devices, especially knees, are pretty common, and downtime (while you're young) is relatively low-just make sure to get some good PT.

I busted my tib/fib skiing, been down 9 weeks now...that sucks!

that sucks lefox, but atleast you can still ride in much shorter stints. btw what forms of mixed martial arts do you teach (stand up and ground game)? I roll in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just got my first stripe on my purple belt about a month ago. Keep your head up, surely a doc over there came put ya back together.

That sucks you have to close your schools theres isnt anything you can do to keep them open and just oversee and participate from time to time

I hope you everything works out for you
