Ok so my girl wants a buell (YES I HAVE A WINNER)! At first she just wanted something to ride around town with and she was looking at a blast (immediately squashed that idea because I told her she would grow out of it in about 10 minutes). She is really short 5'2 110lbs and she is a new rider so I was thinking SCG but I am worried that it may be too torquey for her but I just don't want her to get a blast and be disappointed right after. But another issue is the price she found a blast for 2k that she liked and the cheapest decent lightning I have found for her is like 5k. I started on a xb9r and have done fine but I am also 6'2 190 so I don't have much prob with the power but...any suggestions?

I woudl suggest getting her an older xb9s and put on a lowering kit. the seating postion on the S will give her confidence with the bigger engine, rather than the blast. plus you will just have to sell and buy another bike in a month.

5'2" is pretty short. She needs to sit on a Scg. If she can't touch, that answers that question.

I know a chick that loves her blast.. she can keep up with us and has fun cruising around on it. Her and her boyfriend also ride 2 up on it also with no problems.

I don't like that "she can keep with us," that sounds like trouble, she should ride at her abilities.guys tell your friends or girl friends that don't quite have the riding abilities to ride with in their means, I have seen bad results of people trying to "keep up." Everybody should ride in their comfort zone, be it a guy or girl when they start riding.

PS. not knocking the poster, please don't take it the wrong way.

^^^ it's also how you learn. As long as you have good technique, sometimes it helps to have someone to fallow, know when to break and what line to take. I should rap.

I thought the keep up comment was more about the abilities of the blast not the rider. My GF has been thinking about a blast also. A 9 would be too much bike for her to learn on. Blasts are perfect for learning and most girls won't get "bored" with them cause they are not into riding for the same reasons as most guys. I know my GF would be happy on a scooter forever so a blast would be good for years.

She's 5'2" and her 1st bike? A Blast would be great IMO. You can get hurt on anything, be it a Blast or an XB, but the lower torque may be a little more forgiving for a shorter newb. She taking an MSF course before-hand? $2000 for a bike that she'll probably drop a few times sounds like a winner to me.

Blast or not, theres 500cc ready to go. U'd be suprised the things I saw at the MSF. 6'6" 350lb'er doin wheelies & stoppies (all at the same time!!!) Ride Safe, ride responsibly,,,;)

Oh, for sure I thought about it and you are right BRomanoski. I have some buddies that told one of the guys in the group not to try and keep up with faster group, well he proceeded not to have fun in a cast. We have to look out for our buddies/ladies that don't want to feel under done. Maybe even cut the pace down a notch.

Great site I like it[up]

thanks for the advice yall...i think she will probably go with the scg if she can afford it...she has some experience already and ill be sure to make her take it easy...plus i wanted her to get something she will get really comfortable taking corners with since we will be moving to Hawaii in the near future to Hickam AFB! So I wanted her to get something that will corner well with out it being an xb9 or 12r...
