Hey everyone,

Would love some advice on a portion of the left airscoop removal (changing spark plugs) procedure.

The T27 screws are, of course, easy - the issue is that there are two cables/wires running underneath the scoop that have cable ties and mounts driven *up* into the scoop. I have NO idea how to get those to release so I can remove the scoop fully from the bike.

Service manual "mentions them" at one point but simply says "remove" and then "replace" for removal/installation respectively.

I'm frustrated as I don't want to break something or damage the cables/wires because I don't know what I'm doing.

Grateful in advance for any wisdom.

I have a 07 12r and do not have anything attached to my scoop just 3 screws . I have a cable tie on the black tubing that is the motor mount frame and the tie holds my idle speed screw. IF they are wire ties you can cut them and replace them if you need the scoop out of way or let it hang.

If it's on the left side, it's just the zip ties holding the idle adjustment cable in place. Just cut em and replace.
If you're gonna work on your buell, you're gonna need zip ties!
BTW those shouldn't interfere with removal of the scoop.
Any way you can post a pic of the "wires" in question. If you're not the original owner of the bike there's no telling what it could be. I know what's suppose to be there. Should look like this

Anyway, when you change those plugs be very gental with the rear plug. Use a piece of tubing, with the plug tightly inserted to the end of it, to help you start the threads into the rear cylinder. Then use an extension and a swivel to tighten them down. BUT ONLY AFTER YOURE SURE ITS NOT CROSS THREADED!
Oh, and put a little anti seize on the plug threads and you should be GTG.
Good luck.

I have those on my 09 ss you can just let it hang but to remove the clips you need thin nose pliers to squeeze the 2 ends together then pop them through the hole from inside the scoop but they can be a bitch to reach! i would just let it hang or buy spare clips before you remove it as they damage quite easily just in case! buell re-routed that part of the harness to help with the damaged wire problem i believe!

These are the clips! 672348.jpg

question - is it normal for our bikes to run a bit leaner in the rear cylinder than the front? I've seen several older posts to that effect, and the old plugs I pulled out were showing slightly lean to right on for the rear cylinder but fairly rich for the front one.

???

Not sure on the plugs vincenzajay but glad you got them changed ok and for future reference then they are the clips you would/will need should they break! and thats why they reshaped the bottom of the scoop on 09/10 bikes to hide the wires! :eagerness:
