So I have a Firebolt but have completely converted it to an Lightning minus the front end.
I have read through this thread and it helps but I need more details. I couldn't find more info
http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Do-It-Yourself-Buell-Mods/XBR-clip-on-conversion-for-XBS

does anyone have a better pic I can see up close or can give me details on where stuff bolts up? I know I will lose ignition lock capabilities but where does the ignition lock bracket fit in the S's modules. The ignition can't just float there in that hole in the side.
Anyways any and all help on the R triple with an S front end conversion would be greatly appreciated. I want to make sure I have all the info before I cut and drill my upper triple clamp

[confused]
OK I think I'm clearly missing something. You are converting your Firebolt to the Lightning. The link you give is going the other direction "yes/no".
I'm thinking about changing my riding posture and sitting more upright myself. I was thinking about finding lightning front end parts (lights, triple, ect), and making the conversion that way. Is this a bad idea?

yeah the one in the link is someone who has an S and modified a R upper triple to fit his S set up. I want to put an S set up on my already existing R triple. Its the same end result it just started different. I just need to know how it goes together.

You should be able to keep your ignition if you keep your top triples.

The S iginition has three bolts that go into the main support bracket behind the gauge cluster. 2 security ones down the center line, and a hex one off towards the keyhole.

You should be able to just get the support bracket, both sides of the flyscreen bracket, the flyscreen, and the headlights.

You will need to do something about your fuses and ECU, though.

all you need is an upper triple and longer cables. there are conversion kits available.

so keep the front fairing and just change from clip-ons to a handlebar or change the complete front, fit ecm & others in airbox cover (you will need S wireharness or modify current)

WOW I was completely misunderstood. my bike is fine and I wouldnt trade, I dont want handle bars, I just want get more details on how to mount the modules, fly screen and light to my R upper triple as mentioned above and in the thread (link) I refered to. If anyone has anymore detailed info on the R bar conversion that was done in my original post above please let me know. Thanks.
