Hi I have an 98 s3t and a 99 Ducati 900ss and was wondering about the 1125r is there a parts source for the power-train are they good bike's , cause if I do go for it I'll have to sell/trade my Ducati(which I really like) for one.
Would appreciate some honest feed back from owners .
heres my s3t

IMO the 1125 would be a great upgrade to what you have, the nice thing is you could use the 1125 for long rides as well and still have some comfort.

The Ducati is just as specific for handling and what not but in turn is not nearly as adaptable as the 1125 to suit you as a tour bike and sportbike.

I would definitely go for the 1125 in place of the two bikes mentioned. I have never owned a Duc but I know they aren't the cheapest bike to maintain, but an 1125 isn't the cheapest either, but still cheaper than a duc.

1125 is just better for multiple uses DD, tour, or track.

i brag about my 1125 everywhere i go, i've never owned a Duc, but a friend had one and sold it for its maintainence costs, at the end of the day you have to be happy with your decision.

I don't know if I would get rid of the Duc because I have never owned a Duc but the 1125R is just an awesome bike. I have over 11000 on my 08 now and I bought it new. She has been a great ride since day one. Plus, she is not the run of the mill cookie cutter Jap bike that looks like every other bike. She is truly a unique machine that handles very well.

The 1125's have their issues, 09-10's stators, regulators, water pump weep, 08 had rear turn signal issues, 08-10 have clutch weep problems. 09-10's have lots of updated parts on them to fix complaints from the 08's. I think once you get through all these problems its a fun bike to own thats for sure. It truely has all the power that my xb was missing.

Then again you may buy one and never have any of these issues. But at least you know what u are getting into.

The Duc is probably more comfy for distance riding, it is after all a sport touring bike and the 1125R will have you over the bars much more. My first bike was a 916 Ducati and I loved it, it got a bit pricey but not horribly so. I own Italian cars too so I know how to spend on maintenance. In the states there has to be a seven year parts supply even for a discontinued bike, not sure about where you are though.

I have owned a Ducati 900SS ('99 model) and currently have an '08 1125R. Maintenance is definitely cheaper, and in my experience less frequent. Also I think the Buell is easier to work on. the nakedness of the bike makes many of the parts so much easier to get to. I have ridden my 1125 at the track, around town, in the twisties, and on long day trips (500+ miles). and I can say that I would rather have it over my old Duc...but was a very different bike compared to yours though.

Thanks guys, I'm in the states too originally English though.
I do my own maintenance that way I know its done, the Ducati is simple enough ,however my Thunderbolt is easier(which I commute on 75mls a day) .
The 1125 seems to be one hell of a machine though, I'll have try one out first I suppose.
Once again thank you for your inputs. :D[up]
