I blew mine out or something, the pistons spool at like 7K, the third gear was getting hard to get into, had to feather it in.

I sorta think I need a new motor, Ive got 50K on this bike, its been my baby for a while.

now my motor just clicks when I go to crank it, like really really loud.

So I think I need a new motor, ideas?

I dont rebuild motors though, I mean, how expensive would it be? Im mechanically inclined, I build drift cars, but I just dont understand a motorcycle.

If you can build a turbo drift car, you can tear down a pushrod XB.

There's virtually nothing to this motor. Really simple. Some good videos on here and youtube. Weisco High compression pistons ftw.

Its sad to hear that your motor shit the bed but it makes the rest of us happy at the same time knowing that our motors could possibly run to 50k. :D

Good luck with the rebuild!

I rode this baby like she was meant to be rode. She treated me good, but when the oil cooler went, the rest did too. I know this a wtb thread, but I am curious how hard it is to do work to my gears, I cant get it into 3rd anymore, it just feathers past it so to speak. Im doing the big bore direct bolt on kit (no boring out needed) amongst other things.

ALSO! my bike doesnt really have get up and go anymore, should I get a new carb? or whatever? I couldnt even wheelie her on her last few months. I let her die slow after that. She is coming back like a bat out of hell though.

I sorta wanted a second motor to turbo. oh well. rebuild it is.

Don't forget the bike was designed to be turbo. That is why the older frames have the holes through them.

You'd have to upgrade some of the parts anyway.

On most bikes the shifter is designed to wear long before anything in the transmission is damaged. You'd have to look at it.

Yep, it's harder to get the bike out of the frame than to do the work.

Bottom line: your project bike is already here.

I have and 06 XB12r motor with only 8XXX miles on it for sale, Im parting out my firebolt so shoot me a PM if interested, Motor is in great condition.
