Hey guys new here, I am looking for an scg rear shock for my regular lightning cause I'm only 5'6". I already have the low seat but my legs are still shorter than I'd like on the bike. If you are looking to trade let me know. Thanks soo much! :p

Not sure what the going rate is but I have about 50-60 bucks to spend atm. But as I said I'm not sure the fair rate.

Sorry sold & shipped at lunch time today, went for $160 shipped to IN.

Normal range for SCG shock is $100-200. New is $250 I believe.

mate, jsut realise too that if you just change out the shock the rear will lower about 40mm and you cant drop the front forks through that much, so you will affect the geometry and handling.
as well you may emcounter side stand issues all to be considered.
i have swapped out two buells for Scg spec suspension and side stands for my lady who is 5'2", and really i would be suggesting doing it properly if you are going to do it at all.
cheers

I agree on doing it correctly. just getting the entire suspension and selling your old to get some of the money back.

BUT for some I realize it's not in the financial plans. You can drop the forks once you remove the fork keepers from the top clamp. However you must get the forks to the exact same height or steering problems occur.
The regular kickstand works if you use forks or the rear shock.
If you move both, you also need kick stand or cut 1" out of your normal one (not recommended)

i laugh ever time i hear someone state that 'for financial reasons', i will instead put in jepordy my life by doing half a job. whther it is the person themselves or someone else justifying the thought or action. REALLY! it is the most moronic excuse there is and why Darwins theory still exists in some parts of the world.

you cant slip your forks 40mm, there is suspension travel to think about. the gap to to the headlight fairing as well as the fork design and set up itself. and yes they will need to be spot on even if you try to get close to maintain handling.

otherwise just fitting a rear shorter shock only takes away the riding pleasure, performance and safety. changing the geometry affects handling. and seriously we are not talking a mm or two like in WSBK. you are talking 40mm. it is drastic to do one with out the other.

plus i see it all the time with some dealers offering short shocks for ladies. fukme,no wonder they have issues taking corners, and when someone experienced tries their bike they notice it.

do it right or not at all, afterall its your riding pleasure and your life.

and for the OP poster. HTFU. you can touch the ground so just get on with it and learn your craft.

I plan on doing it correctly but the scg shock is my first stop don't assume things without knowing please. Regardless I still need the scg shock before I do anything at all. Just looking for help not misguided accusations guy.
