Well in my experience, our 09 Uly had inspired my wife to get her own license. She was raised to fear motorcycles, had never drove one. Within 6 weeks of us owning a ULY she was in a MS Class and scored the highest in the class without ever driving any motorcycle before. She still has not driven the Uly though?? Two up riding on a ULY for 95% of the riding you are doing above, my opinion is probably the better choice. I have also test drove the Tiger 1050, BMW GS 1200 & 850, V-Strom 1000 as well as the KLR 650, two up riding the Uly was the best choice for us. I would recommend you ride each one 2 up and then you both take a vote. Then when the ULY wins it just keeps getting better the more you use it for what you intend to do above. My wife as passenger said it felt the safest, most relaxing, effortless, highest cool points of all of them in a urban test ride, tollways, highway, cornering clover leafs, negotiating a Wal-Mart parking lot, as well as later riding on dirt roads, pastures, gravel, etc...Also when hanging out at the dealership I bought it at, where they sell BMWs, Triumph, Ducati, I can hear the owners say " did I not just bring this thing in for service? Does it really need to be adjusted again? If it is not covered by warranty, then why do I need to have the valves adjusted again? Blah, Blah, Blah....Since purchasing this bike from a dealership i have spoken to them once regarding this bike for over a year and 17K miles. I took it there for an inspection and they asked where in the hell I have been? I said riding my motorcycle where I belong! I think from your experience with already owning one, the amount of time and money you will save on servicing your Buell, will possibly equal or be close to your gas money expenses compared to the other bikes economy, dependability, serviceability, usability, parts, etc... It would be like riding with free Gasoline with all your gear, passenger, off to the wilderness etc..
