Well after 3 weeks i finally got my neutral indication switch in and after 3 weeks of waiting for that to come in that still isn't the problem i have no indication when im in neutral there is no light on i had to replace the entire wiring harness due to an earlier problem so thats not it and as u just read i replaced the switch. This is the only thing that is keeping me from passing inspection if there is anyone near Maryland that is willing to help with the inspection or if you know what else i can look for to get this neutral system working

Had the same problem but it was coming on in between switching gears, check the diode. Its as right as rain now!!! Sounds like yours is totally out though since it doesnt come on at all.

I did simple testing. the switch is basically only a relay when the bike is in neutral a small lever raises and makes contct with the ball pushing the ball untill it makes contact with the other side and completes the circut thus making the neutral light come on. i used a basic test lite to see if it was working and the old one was not buit the new one tested fine. the diodes are brand new due to me replacing the harness and they are in the correct way.

You haven't mentioned the bulb in the instrument panel - have you tried grounding the wire at the switch end with the ignition on?

Assuming that hasn't been eliminated, the neutral light itself is a bulb and you can swap in a bulb from one of the background light positions if it measure open - that would at least let you get your inspection done.

Having a similar problem. I just bought my bike yesterday. Tonight as I was pulling in at night the neutral light didn't work. It worked all before that. I tried going in and out of neutral. It came on once so its random. Currently, it's not lighting up.
Where is this diode everyone is talking about?
