Hey guys,

Just got my XB12R, after years of wanting one. (Had an 09 XB12S that I totaled a few years ago)

Long story short, the previous owner allowed a number of water spots to develop on the bike, along with some various bits of rust.

They cover EVERY inch of the bike, and are especially annoying on my gorgeous hero blue wheels.

Anyone have a clue about how to remove those water spots, and the rust?

My best option so far is Kaboom, as endorse here, by the late Billy Mays. May he rest in peace:

So - help appreciated!

I would try straight vinager with hot water first that should work If not try this.Zep
I just used this product from Zep to remove heavy build up of calcium on some windows,it is very strong AND WILL BURN Aluminium I would mix 1 part Zep to 10 parts water and go from there til water spots fade. After you clean spot wipe with mild soap like dish soap and rinse well .
My best option so far is Kaboom,
Thinking same thing as zep and would still delute before useing.Goodluck

On the plastics and wheels use rubbing compound. I think theres about a dozen threads on here about buffing.

On nething that is bare steel or stainless 00 steal wool will remove rust and crustys.

The bare aluminum u could try diluted kaboom or CLR or ZEP but def. mix them with water to be safe. Be very careful with harsh cleaners around bearings (it can seep in thru the seals) and around gaskets and rubber.

theframe and swingarm (i assume its flat black since its an 09) if the spots will not wash off u might just end up painting them since the satin painted part can't be buffed.

I've removed water spots in the plastic body parts by using Meguiar's Plastix polish. It also works on the frame paint decently.

Sandpaper

Is that a joke?! If so, not funny.

Roger - Do not use sandpaper. A product I've always had good results with is "Honda Spray". No, I've never owned a Honda. But it was always stocked at my local dealer and the stuff removes everything from road tar to dried bug residue to tree sap to oil to hard water stains. Google it...
