Hi folks, I'm new to the forum and these bikes but have always enjoyed the awesome sound and power these bikes have... Plus the confused looks you get while people try to figure out what the heck you're riding is fun. I've ridden on and off for a while now but haven't ridden in 6 years following a pretty nasty wreck on my R1. Anywho, I'm back In the saddle again and man how ive missed this, the bike scares the shit outta me, but that's a feeling I hope to overcome.

So the bike, it's an 04 xb12r with 3500 miles, it's in great shape. I plan to replace all fluids and lube up the cables and linkage, but other than that she runs like a top and rides incredibly well. Just on here to learn how to do maintenance and maybe find a fellow buell fan or two around southern Virginia or northeast North Carolina.

Welcome! Lots of great people on here.....many with very good advise and much knowledge. Have fun and stay safe!!

I so wanted red when I was looking. Im with ya, got mine last Tuesday and have put a couple hundred miles on her but Im still cautious with what she can do :)

Thanks for the replys fellas. I'm slowly getting back Into riding and feeling some real differences between the buell and R1. The sheer muscle in these buells is addictive, I literally ride for at least 30 min- an hour every day. I used to commute on the R1 but my current commute is about 45 miles... Anyone else attempt such a commute?

I've been to buffalo NY from HighPoint NC and back twice in the nearly seven years I've owned mine. My first year of ownership I was commuting from Raleigh to HighPoint for three months. That's was about 1hr45min one way! Until recently I was commuting about 25min, one way, every day it wasn't raining (or snowing) all year round. I usually lay over the tank when I ride. I find it much more comfortable than it looks.

So doing a little digging through my manual and found a bunch of aftermarket receipts and guides. Can yall weigh in on what's worth keeping and what u should look at replacing??

Add on's:

Heli tour performance triple clamp

K&n oil filter with amsoil oil

K&n air filter

Mueller power clutch kit

New Dunlop tires with ride on TPS sealant.

Some sort of aftermarket exhaust, no identifiable markings on the exhaust itself, just a. Receipt identifying an exhaust replacement.

What should stay and what should go? Bike runs well, pulls hard and handles nicely..... Should I just take that for what it is and ride at this point? That's kind of where I'm leaning towards on this one.

Any help is much appreciated.

When you have the chin fairing off take a picture of the exhaust and we can help identify it. The clutch kit is a replacement ramp that eases the clutch pull effort. The oil filter/oil is just from an oil change, but those are good choices. The K&N is the most common replacement air filter, just might want to check to make sure it is in good shape (not dirty or overoiled).

I'm not familiar with the triple.

The TPS sealant is to aid with tire leaks. I haven't heard much about it but they say it won't affect tire balance if used properly. If it feels fine I wouldn't worry about it.
