My new (to me) 2003 XB9r. This is my third bike and I am stoked! Years ago I spent a lot of time on the BACK of one, now I'm in the drivers seat! I'm already noticing gearing issues, so I'm hoping I can find some answers here! Buells truly ROCK!

Welcome ! Nice looking bike ! You may need to be more specific about your issue for help ?

So are you a chick or where you riding bitch with another dude [confused]

If the first pics or it didn't happen.

If the second that's just effed up and somethings you should keep to yourself.

Either way welcome to the site and good looking bike [up]

What about if it was his DAD that took him riding? I took all 3 of my kids, 2 daughters, 1 son. Last real trip for my son and I was Buell Homecoming, only had ONE bike for the trip and he enjoyed all the 2-up rides.

Good point

I ride my sons also so that is a definite exemption to the rule.

Hi seajay!!
That looks to be a sharp bike you have there! (It just needs the blue wheels now! :)). I'm sure with some more specific info, we can help answer your questions!! Welcome to the forum seajay!

LOL! You guys are funny! Yes, I'm a chick. A guy I dated for a couple years had a blue xb9r - we went everywhere on that thing. We broke up, I got my own bike ('86 Kawi ZL600 Eliminator in perfect shape). We're still friends and I came across this sweet deal (the white xb9r) and couldn't pass it up! Today I took it for it's first legal ride (registered it) and went illegal speeds. Thanks for the welcome wagon.

I was having trouble with the clutch, but I think I worked it out. For now. Glad to have a resource to come to!

You guys crack me up!

welcome! this is a great forum, tons of great help, from great folks. I'm a new BUELL owner myself (a lil over a month)...I have found out a ton of useful info here.

please explain your gearing/clutch issues in a little more detail. BUELLs are a different breed and take some getting used to, BUT if do have a problem this is a the place to get answers.

how? nice looking machine seajay and welcome to the dark side by the way. the clutch adjustment both at the cable and inside the primary along with proper amount and type of primary drive lube is critical on these bikes if you want a taught clutch, nice lever feel, and smooth shifting. who adjusted what and how's your primary oil? by God we need to get to the bottom of this...........and pronto!

PS-i like arctic white bolts as well.

Hi seajay!
Unfortunately, you'll take a lot of gruff from those who have never even rode a Buell!! DON'T allow the GSXR-CBR 'herd' dissuade you!! You have a very UNIQUE bike there!! Enjoy it!! And if and when you DO encounter some issues, we can help you one way or another!! :D

Very nice bike! Are you going to get frame pucks for it? I just got my Firebolt - first Buell - a few months ago. It attracts attention because it is loud and has the lopey idle. Most of the time nobody knows what it is - LOL! Enjoy and ride safe!

My apologies for not knowing how to repost comments like you all have. So bear with me?

Hiya MustangGuy, I thought my bike already had frame pucks on it?! Navy pilot guy (whom I bought it from) put them on so they are relatively new. Please correct me if I'm wrong here... I just came over from the sport cruiser side of things! :)

I am enjoying the uniqueness of my bike. I'm already getting a lot of attention. Kind of nice for a change. I haven't seen any other Buell's around. Friend of mine and I are getting together on Monday (he also has a Buell) should be kind of fun to ride together. A rare treat indeed!

Help?!!! Perhaps I should wait to pick up my owners manual before I start with the vague questions. They are vague because I haven't figured out what's going on yet. Primary oil? Help! Now I know there is a clutch adjustment cable on the front. That is not the issue. It seems it's with the gear changer arm (pardon my neanderthal descriptions here, I'm a newb!) at the foot. If I don't lift up to change gears hard enough, the bike won't go into gear. This can be rather embarrassing since I've already ticked off the "cagers" by splitting the lane and getting ahead. Now the bike won't go? Yikes! So shifting that hard is a little painful come the end of the day, was going to try my Harley boots (steel toe) to see if that helps. My concern is that getting into Neutral won't be as smooth. Of the 3 Buell's I've had the pleasure to ride, mine has the smoothest shifter, and is easiest to get into Neutral. The other two were a B...! Owner of the 2nd Buell said, "Oh, just rev it, it will go into Neutral". My thought was... Really?!! Needless to say, I didn't buy THAT particular bike. My love was to arrive as Buell number 3, the one I've pictured here.

Now that I've written a small novel, thanks again for the welcome and the comments.

OK!!
Let's try this again!! I think maybe MustangGuy seen the wrong pic?! You CAN adjust the position of the shift lever....I had to, too...I kept missing that 1rst-2nd shift! Loosen the little nuts on each end of that aluminum rod and the spin that rod...the pedal will go up or down depending on which way you spin it. Be careful loosening the nuts though..they are right AND left handed threads!! Perhaps someone with a better set-up than what I have could post a pic so you can see it?! A little bit of adjustment went a long way for me...I'm sure you'll experiment a little until you find the location you like.
