Hey folks!
I've got a 07' Firebolt XB12R and I've found that after about 30 minutes of riding, my butt feels like I'm sitting on a 2x8 piece of wood.

I'm considering getting a replacement aftermarket seat (Corbin maybe). Does anyone have experience with these? I'm only about 150 lbs and have heard Corbins are better for larger people since they are still pretty firm seats. There is also a guy in my town that reshapes existing seats to better fit the rider, and would cost around $150, but same stock vinyl cover.

Any input or advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!
Greg

I am all for supporting local business. But you really cant go wrong with any reputable aftermarket seat. They will all be a significant improvement. I do 8-10hr days pretty regularly on a stock seat. As long as you keep yourself engaged its really not bad. Easily the most comfortable sportbike I have owned.

If you want something to give you decent results for cheaper look into some mid range touring cycling shorts to wear under your jeans. They will do the trick for most situations.

Ditto the above... I went thru three different seats before I ended up liking the stock cityx seat. You can always resell what you don't like. If you have the money and there's a shop you want to patronize, I would go the custom local route. Probably have my seat redone sometime this winter.

I absolutely hated the stock seat on my first firebolt. My second came with a stock "gel" seat which was far improved. I've also heard the saddleman seats are supposed to be super comfortable. Plus they don't look bad at all. I'd personally go saddleman over corbin, but you can't go wrong with either.

The local option may be a good one as well. Shouldn't hurt to go down there any maybe see some of the work.

I priced out a Baldwin, black vinyl and gel inserts, $435 + refundable $200 for the core + shipping and taxes. Yikes, I like my OEM seat, it's pretty. :)
