first i would like to say hi to the buell community at large. i have recently gotten my hands on an 03 xb9r firebolt, will have pix asap i promise!, and i love it! sad to say that i officially ended my riding season this year by dropping my bolt :"( mainly because i am on the sort and stumpy side lol i did a little bit of research, and i already have the coilover/rear shock from the lightning low model...but i still cant stand firmly or stable with both feet when stopped. i am on the ends of my toes! any suggestions or part numbers for helping a half-midget keep things planted at the red lights? thanks in advance, and i have heard GREAT things about this site and the buell community as a whole! i look forward to many a great miles ahead!

keep it on 2!

Welcome to the party! Awesome to see that a brand that went away five years ago is still gaining followers! Prepare for the new addiction. I have to assume youre aware that Erik's new bike was introduced (formally) today at the Orlando Expo.

As for the height issue -- is the front end already lowered? That could help but make sure there is plenty of clearance with forks fully compressed.

in changing the suspension on your bike, you also need to change the forks and side stand to lower the bike properly. if you're still having issues with the height of the bike after converting to the "low" entirely, sorry to say the bike doesn't fit you. on the other hand, if you can balance the bike on your left leg, keeping your right foot on the peg and covering the brake you may be ok. still it boils down to safety...yours! rather you be safe than sorry and hurt.
welcome to the forum...parts breakdown of the forks and side stand. you can find parts at newcastlehd.com, surdyke.com, LSHD1.com, Buellsterparts.com, pinwall cycles on ebay, ironmachine.com, ASB (AmericanSportBike.com), twinmotorcycles.com to name a few sources. while you're at it, add the right side scope (Uly comfort kit) to help cooling. item #7,8, 4 is optional plus the three screws needed.

@mtnmason: sorry, i should have included more details, but yes it is lowered on the front, but with the stock 41mm showas set to the underside of the snapring on a heli upper triple clamp.

@thrstrmech: THNX! awesome info and VERY much appreciated!!!

on a side note, other details so far; "symmetrical" carbon scoops from MDICarbon, front rotor and mounts from EBR, saddleman trcf seat & hold down kit from ASB, fiberglass undertail from Sebimoto

mods/dress up "on the drawing board": MotoGadget M-Blaze bar end indicators from Trojan Horse, mirror risers from Ironmachine, anodized footpegs with matching pins brakeline clamps timing and front break covers from KnightDesign, double bubble windscreen tank cover and solo tail section and open airbox from either ASB or TwinMotorcycles (just whoever is cheapest, seen the same products on both pages), lavamat under the seat and airbox and blue heat wrap from Summit, & finally (thank god, ikr) chrome led tipped windscreen bolts (spike lites) from Nicecycle....and naturally gonna be doing a slip on exhaust, thinking D&D because i like the way they sound over the others, & an ecm remap

would LOVE to get a set of the flush mount led mirror block off plate blinkers from DEISLEMOTO, but yea...$100 a pair and on back order, not daddy's bag baby! lol

WELL OOPS! my bad, i thought ASB had the tank & tail i was looking at. o weel, twin it is! lol

you're welcome...try as much as possible to help on the '03's, BTW...the '03 SL's had the recall of the side stand pin/bolt shearing. so if you follow through with getting it, replace the original pin/bolt with the upgraded one, it goes for about 11 bucks and there's a thread on the forum that covers the mod. good luck.
