He's baaaaaaack!

So, I posted here in the classifieds not long ago with some items I was selling off because I had moved on from Buell. Well, I spotted a deal that was just too good to refuse, so here I am again.

$2000 spent for an '03 XB9S with 38k on the clock, "custom" Muzzy exhaust, various little mods like LED headlights and blinkers, etc.

Happy to be back!

Not sure yet if I'll really be keeping it or just selling it off again in the spring. I now have a Moto Guzzi Stelvio NTX and a Suzuki DRZ400SM. The XB9 fits right into the pack, filling the gap between tall touring bike and tall road oriented enduro. Time will tell.

'06 Ulysses setup more for off-roading. It works surprisingly well on quad trails. Though, I would like the larger forks, tighter turn radius, and improved oil pump of the '08+ models. Oh well, I got what I got.

It's down ATM due to an oil leak in the front head gasket, so it's getting a top end rebuild.

That is so sick!

New member from WNC. Moved down here to take care of my dad, who has cancer. He has an 01 and 02 X1, and an 07 XB12 stashed in the garage. I found this 01 M2 for a song (pre-bobbed, I didn't do that!) so now I've got my own Buell!

Sooooooo nice.... please, can you give us some info about the chain transmission mod?? Thanks

Y’all have some beautiful bikes.
**I would never do a chain mod. I’ve had them and they require constant maintenance, even with an expensive DID Xring type.** My old stage 2 FJ1200 would stretch the chain every ride.

I get to go for a nice ride tomorrow. Sunny. 72F. :)
Happy New Year!!

Really?? Now I may never have modded a Buell to a chain, however, my HD Pan America runs a chain stock and it has 50% more HP and 13 more Ft-Lbs of torque... Admittedly you do have to make sure you use a chain specifically spec'd for 150 HP, and they are spendy.

The recommended service interval is 500 miles for lubricating and checking slack/adjusting, but I lube it more like every 1k miles and check tension every 2k. The chain is supposed to be replaced every 12k miles but I'm about to do my first chain and sprockets at 18k - not too bad. (And I tend to pull to redline on every on ramp...)

Glad to hear you ride it like you should. Never understood why people buy a fast bike and ride it gingerly. 🤷
I admit the last time I ran a chain was around the year 2000, so appreciate you sharing the information with me so I can update my knowledge base. :) At the last motorcycle rally I went to, a guy showed up with one of the HD Pan bikes. Interesting but out of my price range. Trying to finish getting my kids through college.

Happy New Year! **keep the rubber side down

Meet "Pam" - showed up in my garage 3 years ago, tired, dirty, rode hard and put away wet from neglectful POs - missing parts, shorting handlebar warmers grips, intermittently functional HID automotive scale headlights fitted, crusty and unmaintained, leaking fork seals, blown rear shock, chopped up rear tail section, in horrible crufty black metalflake with airbrushed flat-white barbed-wire accents (hence the nickname "Pam") - she's been gone through axle to axle - new fuel pump, rebuilt rear shock, serviced front forks, new shift lever, new footpegs, new brake pads front/rear, new final drive belt, new grips, proper H3 headlight bulbs, new tailsection keylock assembly, replaced undertail, new battery/airfilter/sparkplugs, new fairing/airbox cover/tailsection and front fender. Belly full of Motul 7100. Sourced rear passenger pegs from NOS and found replacement beltguard pieces. New windscreen coming this spring!

Full service pulled on the machine as per the manual - bikes only got 34.000Kms. I'll never figure out why some riders just don't/can't do the regular maintenance. *headscratch* My win I guess getting them in tired neglected states and then nursin' them back to full life. Keeps me from goin' even more squirrelly from my wife's reality-tv binge watching preferences.

A total peach for this old man to thump and whump around the joint!
