New, want to buy lightning any pros and cons?

Just signed up, dont got a buell but i really want a lightning. Any pros and cons that any one has to warn a prospective buyer about? Hows the aftermarket support? Live in hawaii so zuks, and hondas kinda roam the streets like they are kings. I think it would be a real head turner and its AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!

i recently got an xb12s and love it. dont think you can dominate the japs,you cant. however, you will be able to make them sweat.

What Leadfoot said, your not going to slap around the jap bikes but thats not what the Buell is. If want to have fun on a bike rip the twisties better than any other bike on the road and have a low maintenance easy to work on bike that is unique and stands out get the Buell. The Buell is more than just a bike is kinda a cult following and most mods are from Buell owners developing and producing stuff for the bikes. Best thing to do is go for a demo ride you will know if you want one or not.

If you are just going to cruising the towns and no long trips the lightning is perfect. once you get on the 70-80 mph for long times you will have a sore neck from the wind.

I love my lightning and i just deal with the sore neck on long trips

well guess im gonna deal with a sore neck, most of the roads here rarely have straight aways so i think the buell would be fun.

Congrats on the decision. You won't regret it. It has unreal torque, effortless leaning, and one-of-a-kind looks. You will get constant stares. It has the unique innovations like gas in the frame, airbox where others have gas, exhaust slung under the bottom, front wheel perimeter brake, V-twin exhaust lump, etc. Good luck with your search and ask if you need any help. Pro. Coolest bike around.

Con. Not as much in aftermarket stuff. But very up and coming. Also not a lot of support at most HD dealers. However you'll get as much as anyone can offer on here. So I guess that's Pro and Con

If you get the bike, you won't be sorry.

I love my lightning and I don't care about wind protection. On twisties you will give the japs a run for their money.
You might want to look at this bike, IMO it's one of the best looking lightning around.

yeah ive seen that bike, i wish i had it. i was thinking a firebolt but i stumbled upon a bunch of custom lighting pics and i knew i wanted that one. still gotta go to the dealership and see if they got one. Just to get a feel if they let me test drive that would be kool. Course its the hawaii dealership, think they got buells?

PRO: well the Lightning is great fun, envy inspiring, beautiful, ballsy, and american made

CON: Durring the summer, the inside of your right tigh might tend to get a bit on the warm side.

I think the pros have it though
