I just picked up a xb9r with some rash on it. Where is a good place to pick up stock parts like the black pieces around the headlights? Loving the bike but wishing I had more rpms what's the best way to raise the rev limiter?

I have a white xb9r that I got from a friend without the headlight bezels (as they are called). I looks around on a lot of websites but could only find them on one based in europe somewhere. I can find the link if you want but they weren't cheap.

Thanks for that Radiati0n yeah if you can find it i'd like to take a look but i think i'm going to have to strip the bezels then. mine is a white 03

You should just plasti dip the bezel buckets. you dont have to do any sanding, and if you dont like the way it comes out, you can just peel it off. Some genius on the site did a write up on plasti dip last week.

The i'm missing the parts of the left bezel and the right one is chiped as well so i wanted to replace them but i'll look at it and see if it might help

you realy dont want to raise the revlimiter, and im prety sure the only way you can is with a race ECM

i figured as much but i would need one anyway since i plan on doing engine work to it anyway

@Lesley i did that owned a 07 gixxer 1k an rc51 and a zx6 i've also rode a tl 1000r and have worked on lots of hd motors and i have heard of buells reving to 8 to 8500 rpm.

gobi: the 9's can rev to 8 grand but not for very long. think back to the days of the "battle of the 883 twins" that mother H-D was involved with and promoted heavily. those motors (same basic architecture) would regularly be spun up to 9000 rpm but were completely torn down and rebuilt with fresh internals on average of every 2 races. torque is the calling-card of these motors...not stratospheric revs.

I guess i should say i have worked on many hd motors and i live about 35 miles from s and s, and i'm not looking for stratospheric revs but the 9 motor is still pulling when you hitt the rev limiter thats why i asked aobut bumping it to 8 grand to make full use of all the pull of the stock motor

Hi gobi! You're right...you never see a "peak" in hp on the dyno...it's all torque. So, yeah, there is probably a little left up there, but...without a DarkHorse crank and some Carrillo rods, I wouldn't want to push it much harder than the factory rev-limit of 7500. With high-end internals, 8000 should be reliably do-able.:)

So I got looking closer and looks like I got a buell racing exhaust how do u tell if u have a stock ecm or a race ecm

It will say Race ECM, or Race Only on the outside of the ecm. If the PO reflashed it with a race map you will only know with an ecm spy cable and then comparing the map to a stock one

Thanks mark xb12r and if I could have found one I would have gotten an 1125. I like it a lot but I do miss the speed of my old rc51. But it still put a huge smile on my face
