Newbie Intro...

Hi, new to the site...a lot of great info here. I just bought a Buell XB12Scg (because I'm only 5'9"). It was a brand new 2008 with 5 miles on it...so I couldn't pass it up. I don't have a lot of riding experience, mostly dirt bikes, but while I was deployed in Iraq I had this epiphany to buy a motorcycle...Of all the bikes out there, I liked the raw look of the Buell, so I bought it. I've been riding since the end of March, in the cold, in the rain, and in the sun. I currently live in Germany, stationed at Ramstein Air Base, and live in the town of Landstuhl. I love the curvy roads here, and have already scheduled reservations at a hotel so I can ride the Alps this summer. So if anyone else is here in Germany, look me up. I hope to learn a lot from this site, and be able to contribute as I gain experience.

Welcome to the Forum Abio. You'll have to post some pics up of the bike. Fidosol & Lefox are two members that I'm certain are in Germany. There's a few others too that may post up. Anyway, great to have you. Ride Safe.

did you get the bike through AAFES? I'm in Iraq and am getting the XB12SS (because i'm only 5'7"). wanted the all black, but they only had the cherry color.

will soon be back in Tacoma, WA for the Olympic mountains and the Cascades. The Alps does seem pretty amazing though. can't wait to pick all of your brains with stupid questions about the bike.

As a matter of fact I did get it through AAFES. They didn't have what I wanted through AAFES while I was in Iraq... I actually wanted the orange or black, and they didn't have either...only had the blue. So I wasn't going to get it...then when I got back to my home station (Ramstein) I got a call saying they had a black one (2008) and they offered to match my down payment (only up to $300), and knocked off a grand. I think I'm going to get the orange airbox cover just to be able to change it up a bit...and maybe get a custom paint job on the black airbox.
