Just bought a 2003 XB9 with 30,000 miles on it(first time bike owner). Noticed oil leaking and started tearing things apart to find the cause, popped the airbox open and low and behold its full to the brim with oil leaking out. I flushed all the fliuds out in case there was too much in there and it was coming thru the breather holes. Which brings me to my question, why would there be oil in my airbox?
My second issue is: After watching a post on YouTube to learn to change fluids properly, I dumped all fluids to make sure I was riding on clean juice and proper levels. I then started the bike and the oil light came on and stayed on and now there is a knocking noise coming from the front cylinder area. I'm glad to be a Buller so any help or advice would be appreciated.

i would say the first check oil pressure with manual gauge.then perform compression test.you should have used around 2 1/2 quarts of oil adding oil to filter before installing.

HeavyD...there ia a blow-by tube that runs into the airbox. This is where the oil is coming from. Most people, myself included have done a breather reroute which eliminates the oil residue in the airbox.

Here is a how-to thread.

Thanks for your input guys. I lucked out and have a friend who knows a Harley mechanic so I'm gonna take it to him tomorrow.
