"Whoever has provoked men to rage against him has always gained a party in his favor too."

"There is not enough love and goodness in the world to permit giving any of it away to imaginary beings."

"There cannot be a God because if there were one, I could not believe that I was not He."

"The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything."

"The lie is a condition of life."

"The best weapon against and enemy is another enemy."

"The Christian resolution to find the world ugly and bad has made the world ugly and bad."

Those are at the top of my list of favorite quotes by Friedrich Nietzsche. My list is actually three pages long...

Anyone else find Nietzsche to be a genius? Did you know that his writings didn't become notable until he stopped writing?

Well put Sayjackb.

I am a bid Teddy Roosevelt fan personally. He was a brilliant man. Personal favorites are "Walk softly and carry a big stick" it didn't originate from him, but he is credited with bringing it to America. The other is "Those who have the ability, have the responsibility" I can't find anything that says for sure it was from him, but the first time I heard it I was told it was by him. I try to live by that one too.

I would love to have HEARD god say that...or anything for that matter. :p But I must say, well played.

reminds me of Blazing Saddles:

Nietzsche says, "out of chaos, comes order"

Oh blow it out your ass Howard
[cool]

so then like most people, painters, other artists etc.. they weren't really well known until after they died, or finished there work..some sort of pattern there

Odin keep in mind that there are a lot of writers that were more well known after life than in it. Homer, Plato, Aristotle...

So Fido, if you care to venture out on a limb. Where did it all come from? (your definition of "it" and "all" are acceptable)
