no electrical background

all, have had the misfortune of charging and recharging the battery. its old and needs replaced. noticed when hooking up the neg cable it sparked. isn't that usually an indicator that something is "on". as far as i can tell there's no accessories on this thing that would draw like that.

yes and no your fine it's just a matter of you grounding it out and creating the circuit also the clock draws power all the time on the dash it's kool your perfectly fine
