I'm having an issue with my 06 XB12R where the brake light doesn't come on, but I have a steady running light. I think something from the front lever is missing but I have no picture/manual to reference. There is a cable attached to the bar that has an end like something with two separate flat prongs should be plugged into it. Is this a brake switch that I'm missing? If so does that mean the whole brake light doesn't work including the rear? I've checked the bulb and both filaments are intact, connections are good to the bulb.

Um...I had the same issue, no brake light, filaments looked good. Before you go all crazy swapping parts, go to the auto parts store and pick up a couple. Take the old one with you.
Well it looks like I am missing the switch according to an online manual I'm looking at. In that case I wont be able to take something in to match, I would just have to go off of what you guys say is an OEM or replacement part. I read in another forum :
